A very stark warning on the need for firearm safety.
Firearms 4 Less, LLC
on Wednesday
Here's what happens when you have your hand in front of the muzzle of your pistol -- and you pull the trigger. (Golden Saber/ Glock 9mm in this case).
A customer of ours shared these photos with us so others can learn from his mistake -- pulling the trigger on his pistol when beginning the disassembly process before making sure it was unloaded (and making sure the muzzle was pointed in a safe direction). So here they are again:
1. All guns are always loaded!
2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy!
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target!
4. Always be sure of your target!
Luckily no bones were destroyed and he will make a full recovery.

Most of the time we get away doing dumb things. This poor guy had a VERY bad day. OUCH is all that I can say about this one.

He was stupid and anyone near him fortunate they weren't in the line of the bullet when it exited his hand. On a technical note I wonder if the bullet expanded in his hand. Ouch, ouch and more ouch!

5. Engage brain before operating ANY mechanical device.....
An old mantra drilled into me by the military, and when I got to an appropriate rank I did the drilling;
Check Safe
MAG off
Tilt
Cock
Lock
Look
Can be applied to any firearm
Now if he had killed himself or removed his testicles by the same method he's punched a hole in his hand BEFORE he had children, he would then be a DARWIN Award recipient.
As it stands now he's just another negative statistic the anti gunners can use against us.
Now having said that everyone has a bad day and this is his.
I am overwhelmingly glad his injuries were not worse or fatal, but geez it's a hard way to learn.
Cheers

He certainly forgot his ACTS and PROVE:
Canadian Firearms Program- RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) for those whom are uninitialted
Assume every firearm is loaded
Control the muzzle direction at all times
Trigger finger must be kept off the trigger and out of the trigger guard
See that the firearm is unloaded
PROVEit safe.
Point the firearm in the safest available direction
Remove all ammunition
Observe the chamber
Verify the feeding path
Examine the bore each time you pick up a firearm
The stink of it is that all of us and I mean ALL of us have had or will have a close call or uncontrolled discharge in our shooting career. I think back to my infantry days at Fort Stewart Georgia with the 24th Infantry Division Rapid Deployment Force. I had just been posted to Stewart and I had completed my first live fire field problem in the division. All of the units were in the process of cleaning our kit and it was about 1900hrs. We were outside in the company behind the boulding and we heard a report of a 50 cal.
It came from across the way from us in the next back parking lot behind 4/64 Armour. The 50 would have been cleared at least three times before coming off the firing line and then again twice before departing the range. Or so we thought... the round took out the chest of crewman inside the building and tore off the arm of another crewman outside the building, deafened a half dozen crewman to boot. Very sad.
