Went to my local specialty booze shop.
I personally enjoy Kiwi Central Otago Pinot Nior wines and most of our beers.
But tried a couple of their beer selections.
They had "Big Sky Brewing Co" from Misssoula Montana- Trout Slayer Wheat Ale.
Now I'm the first to say American beer is like making love in a canoe - F...ing close to water....but hear me out, this was a very pleasant surprise. Vince I recommend you try a drop if you can get it.
Nice head, lovely hops taste with a honey after taste, I'd drink that on a hot day after a walk in the woods!
Suffice to say tell me other good brews that I should consider, not Millers or Bud or any of the big brews.

Ever try any Mexican beers? Most are so mild and bitter you have to drink them with a twist of lime and fast for fear of them going flat on you. But they do have some better ones that I just love. Negra Modelo is a great dark beer that is easier to drink and I also like Superior beer and Montejo which are on the pale side.

Suz,
I have seen some Texmex and Mexican beers at this particular store and have been a bit gun-shy as I don't like Corona or Sol, and the idea of sticking lime or lemon into a beer just doesn't sound right. They have Negra Modelo and Montejo
On your advice I will give them a try, luckily I can buy them individually and get to try one at a timer rather than buy a 6 pack of something I mightnt like.
Cheers for the advice

A beer review on a US beer from the country that brought you the dreaded Double brown ale, fraught with bad taste I reckon.............

XXXX is better than the dreaded DB, especially if you've been in the bush on exercise for 6 weeks :-)

Are you talking about "Heineken"?
Never met a "trappist" (and I don't mean the monk, only their beer. I think there are 6 of them in Belgium and 1 in Holland)

No. Not really. Beer, like soda pop, comes in all flavors and colors. Find one you like that is readily available and enjoy.

Reading on from the other thread regarding the outdoors TV show moving out of Colorado and a bit of bad press, the ruling elite could probably write that off as redneck journolism, loosing a brewery on the other hand would really drive it home due to the higher profile and the lost TAX revenues.
Bushy,
A thoughtful and balanced view as always......

Well, I am not much of a beer drinker, now Dee consumes the stuff like air--anyway, we went to Europe a while back and I had a chance to drink real German beer, and I have been a fan ever since, there are also a few American beers that I like, most are micro brewed or well I can only say Samuel Adams.. I want real taste, if I want to get tipsy beer is not what I am after.
If I want a beer it has to have real body, a great taste, not a hint of a taste, and hopefully a deep robustness.
I am not a beer connoisseur, and have had what I consider good beer from a variety of country's, Heineken is not one of them, BLAUGH, I would just as soon drink the cold p-ss of a nubile red headed virgin------
Well, be that as it may, I would rather have a good 25 year old single malt, or an excellant Kentucy Bourbon, the problem with most of these today is that they add sugar so mortal men ( and sometimes weman) will like it.
Just an opinion.
Nuff said, blast away!!!
