Hi Dallan,
1. I would like the ability to print just the trajectory table or diagram seperately with the load data attached.

2. I enter all of the loads that I test for a caliber by grain's of powder. It would be nice to be able to have a duplicate function where the entries are the same except the charge weight.

3. On the large target the Range box always defaults to 250 yards. Can that be changed to a drop down box of 25, 50, 75, 100 & 200 yds?

4. Still thinking about this one........ How much will these changes cost us anyhow Question Mabe I need to hush Laughing

Safe shooting,
Chris

Ok, under the motto "a guy can ask", is there any way to set a User default for elevation? Somehow, my elevations reset to "0" every time.

Other than that, is there any way we can go back to users submitting updated bullet files?

TIA, Dutch.

I agree, same as range defaulting to zero. If the last entry remained default unless retyped would be good.
We can submit new bullet, powder, and primer files anytime. There have been some new bullets and powders placed on the market and it would be handy to have the new info in the files. As always, Dallan would like all the help he can get on the database files, especially right now with the new website construction going on. If you submit a file he will get around to placeing a link to it on the Point Blank Download pages. Just submit the file by e-mail. Remember when adding to the database to use the 'Tab' key between fields and not a space key. No Tab or spaces after the data either on any line and use enter at the end of each line of data. Insert your file into your copy of Point Blank to make sure it works and has no errors that Dallan has to fix. Then just e-mail it to Dallan at webmaster @ huntingnut.com
Safe shooting,
Chris

All good ideas and suggestions. I'm also trying to locate some G1 tables that extend out to 2000 yards as we have quite a few people who for some crazy reason, think they can shoot that far... or perhaps think they can AFTER computing the trajectory from "here" to "way out yonder" Twisted Evil

Great web site. The point Blank software led me to it.

I'd love to be able to print out the elevation corrections in "clicks". To match my scope. ie...1 click = 1/4 moa. I have always used the "hold over" technique, but with a good range finder and the right clicks, its amazing how easy it is to hit a target a long ways away.

Most definitely. This is one of the top 5 requests I get. Thanks for the suggestion.

Great web site and great software. The price is sure right.

This isn't much of a feature request, but I would like to see this ported to the PocketPC platform. It is a bit easier to drag around a PDA when you go to the range, rather than a laptop. It also looks like it would be fairly easy to port, the toughest part would be making it fit on the tiny screen.

I know a bit of programming and have the tools for developing on the PocketPC, so I may be able to help in some respect.

As PDA's get more and more popular, I am getting more and more requests to make a PDA version. Odds are I will soon. My current problems is #1) I dont own a PDA and #2) I dont have any developer tools. I could probably locate the tools easy enough but I am concerned with developing fully on a emulator without testing on actual hardware.

It will probably happen soon though.

I am willing to test on my pda,... I will even look for the developer tools for you.

Dallan,
I also would be willing to help test a new PDA version and the development tools can be gathered at the Microsoft site. I am a Database Administrator and would be willing to help in any way that I can.

Regards... Bob

I realize it's late in the development cycle, but one feature I would like to see is the ability to change the MV, bullet weight, BC, etc. and re-calculate the trajectory WITHOUT altering the relationship between the line of sight and barrel angle. In other words, I'd like to answer the question: suppose my rifle is sighted in "just so" with say an 80-gr bullet at 3500 fps. If I fire a new load with a 110 gr bullet at 2400 fps, without changing the scope settings, what will the new trajectory be? How will the point of impact change at a given distance?

Maybe I haven't thought this through enough, and the question is actually pointless for reasons I have failed to consider. But it is something I'd be curious to know.

Well now... that is an interesting... and all around great idea. Extremely practical. Let me think on how I might implement this in PB2.0.

One problem is it clutters up the GUI by having lots of different calculation modes (ie: by target zero, by barrel angle as per your suggestion). If I can find a way to do it cleanly I will try to do it. Regardless I'll look into it.

Hello Dallan,

Great work and thanks.

Just a couple of minor tweak suggestions as I am not that interested in the ballistics side of the software.

1. Enlarge the load data window or make it possible for user resize/maximize.
2. Include a field for "# rounds on hand" in the main load window
3. Include a field for resizing method. ie: neck/full length
4. Enable user to select data columns/format for printout.
5. Incorporate capability to sort loads by user selected column heading in the load data window.

Whataya think??

Question:
What is the difference between "Cartridge OAL" and "Comparitor OAL"?

Question:

Harry

Cartridge OAL is the physical overall length, from the base of the case to the tip of the bullet. Comparator OAL is the distance from the base of the case to a point on the bullet's ogive where it fits the caliber Comparator. This can be thought of as a point on the bullet where the circumference equals a specific size.

Comparators are more accurate than Cartridge OAL due to differences in bullet lengths.

Here is more info on comparators:

Yes indeed. Okay, I always use the ogive measurement and for the most part ignore the base to tip. Only important for magazines anyway.

Thanks for your reply and I hope I didn't bombard you too bad with the suggestion thing. Toilet Claw
