I dont use a bike tube I use a strip cut from a car inner tube a sort of super big rubber band I dont hunt with scope caps on unless its peeing down with rain and even then prefer to just keep them dry with cloth ever few minutes. Ive tried see through caps and found scopes still got wet with them on so now I go without. In fact my last pair hang like fluffy dice on the car mirror and the wife wont let me take them off!!!

Elvis, good description. Unfortunately, we use tubeless tires here in the US. I haven't seen a car inner tube in 20 years. Bushy, do you have one next to your reel-to-reel?

Hahaha fluffy dice, and nice dig at the old man with that reel-to-reel haahaha!!! .....
I used bike tubes...same as you did with the car tube. I like the bike tube as it's thinner. Keep spares in pack too for lashing, splints etc. It's like a million free rubber bands waiting to happen!

Well now...As a matter of fact. I DO have an innertube, but it's in the shop. It even holds air still.

Well now I wouldn't know. Do we have dinosaurs alive yesterday? I used it yesterday to aid in lowering the fuel tank from my pickup to do some repairs to the fuel pump and fuel gauge sending unit.

And so is mine. I didn't say I was replacing it. I made a minor repair to a bad connection.
As far as I know this 1998 (pre obami) Silverado all is original.
