I was over at Barnes website checking out some bullets when I came across Consumer Alerts on their home page. The link "barnes-banded-solid-update leads to another page and when you click on the "click here" for an update at the top of the page, a pdf file will open up and explains that the ATF has classified their s VOR-TX Safari ammunition as armor piercing bullets.
The letter was posted on Jan 23rd 2012. What is the hunter heading to Africa suppose to do if he needs solid bullets from Barnes?? I'm sure it's only a mater of time before they go after more bullet companies, they got 2 last year.
He$$, one would think the ATF would hand these out to Mexican drug cartels, not ban em! I think the Barnes Ban merely sets precedence for larger steps later.

They are going to mandate non-lead bullets and then ban the monolithics ...

I think it is typical for a government department that classify a shoe string as a machine gun.
It certainly feels that the ATF is somehow full of anti gun workers.

No where near the standard of common sense that a citizen (or for that matter anyone) would expect from a department of a national government. Shame on the director of BATF and he should have his a$$ kicked publically and literally. IMHO-

We need to tar and feather a few first, and get some used railroad rails to tie them to while running them out of DC. If that doesn't wake them up then the second amendment.

Good thought Aloysius.
And, that is probably why the US government has contracts with so many private military corporations.
Our volunteer military takes an oath to the Constitution and then to the President. Private military groups take no such oath.
Here in the US I think the battle is a longs ways off, too many sissies listening to too many liars and not wanting to have to stand up and maybe lose a few toys to get back our freedom and an ethical government.

I did a little more research and damm I did come up with the 1968 gun control act which SAID this and then found brass is an alloy metal (which means a metal made by combining different metals) composed primarily of copper and zinc.
The amount of copper varies between 55 and 95 percent by weight depending on the type of brass and its intended use. Projectiles that are manufactured from brass and which can be used in a pistol would be classified as armor piercing ammunition. ATF Letter on Brass Ammo
What's sad is that it might never have attracted ATF attention if a company called Elite Ammo from Illinois had not been making similar bullets and blatantly advertising them for their ability to defeat soft body armor and was busted last year on their web site and is not now available. (think delete).
