Amazing video captures under water gun discharges where you can actually see the gas discharge at the cylinder gap before the bullet exits the muzzle. He uses both a revolver and auto.

I wonder how much of that is the gas from the powder is exiting before the bullet and how much is the air in the barrel being compressed and forced out.

Looks pretty dirty with some unburned powder escaping past the bullet. (second video) Wonder if a rifle length barrel would be bullet first or not.

I think that the pressure build is sufficient at the start to force a bit of smoke and powder residue around the bullet before it seals in the rifling.

Very interesting videos OV1...I've often wondered about a pistol being fired underwater.

The Russian Speztnatz had an underwater demolitions team (much like SEAL but probably not as good) which used a pistol that could be fired underwater as a self defense weapon, it had a range of 30 meters and fired a 6 inch dart, it was semi auto, I'll try to find a link and post it.

Hey guys and gals, I was looking at the 2nd video again a few times and what I did was just after you hit the play button, move your mouse cursor to the rear of the front sight and you can see the auto does in fact recoil before the bullet exits the barrel. www.kurzzeit.com/

I wonder if excessive jump in a rifle may allow more blow by of gasses before the bullet seats in the rifling. This may lead to reduced muzzle speed and cause reduced accuracy as the bullet must pass through that turbulent air as it exits the barrel.

The bullet is unable to be put into motion as fast as the chemical chain reaction of the fuel being oxidized and the resulting expansion of the hot gases. I think that the only way an object/projectile can be excellerated closer to the momentum of the forces acting upon it, is in the case of an electrical rail gun.

I have to agree ITD...even seating the bullet so it is against the lands won't cause it to seal immediately...just a little quicker.

I'll be looking for that Spetznatz video...that sounds very interesting.
