22 pound Barrett that i had

When it's something like this....weight does count and while it was only 22 pounds, i noticed more of a shotgun push (maybe equil to a 20ga or 28ga extra) in the lighter ones over the heavy ones
Cool

'Ol Bushy has some good stuff though (the stuff you can't get in Canada) Very Happy

It shot very well under 750grains, but that and over it got a bit wild, not unmanageable though.....Plus it was pretty damn expensive to shoot the 750's and 800's Shocked .

Would i take a deer with it.......i really don't think there would be a deer left. Even a 655 grain fmj would create soo much energy that it would most likely explode upon the POE. 3030 fps in a fifty caliber is quite catastrophic even shooting at melons at a few thousand meters (even close to or at 1 mile). Sniper But i would definately not be the one to try it out......unless it was a 100 to 250 grain bullet in a sabot Very Happy but they don't make those....at least that i know about Cool

Thought about it, even shot a few of the screamin demons. But it's not that hard to duplicate a tungsten round....just costs way too much for the ability to do so Cool

Gidday Flint54. Always wanted to try both of those calibres in the Contender. Had a 10" BBL Contender in 30.30 and loved it. Put Packmyer grip and forend on it and it was great to shoot.

I don't have any problems keeping my teeth....I just tak 'em out ond put them in a glass beside the bed... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Cheers, Vince

Very Happy They are both great calibers in the Contender. My 45-70 is a 14" with the factory Muzzle Tamer. I shoot 300gr HPs and also 325 & 340gr hardcast bullets in it. the 300s I get @ 1600fps max the 340s @ 1450fps & the 325s @ 1550 fps. The tamer greatly helps and all 3 loads group no more than 1.5" at 100 if I do my part.

The .375 JDJ is a 14" with a intigral break. It will shoot through anything in North America on 4 legs. The biggest problem with this round is that there are very few that will expand at all at the velocities that can be reached with this firearm. The preponderance of bullets are designed for the .375 H&H Mag on up. There are a few still out there for the .375 Winchester and they work fairly well as to some cast bullets. I have only shot a couple of pigs and one moose with it with complete pass throughs.

It would be fun to use them both down under on a couple of your water buffs and rid a few camels from problem areas. Don't think either of those creatures could stand up to these two cartridges. Cool
