the hole at the receiver looks the same, I'm sure the size might be different, but you can see from the previous drawing what the original marlin 20 size is.

I take it you are cutting the barrel there? Or will you let the dove tail section sit out in front of the barrel? lol That would be different, thats for sure.

the inside of the lever action does look a lot simpler than the pump.

I decided the 39a with a 24" barrel was too front heavy. I also wanted to use a scout scope so decided I was going to shorten the barrel to achieve a better balance. I also wanted to learn about optimum barrel length for 22LR. I hacked sawed off 2" at a time and measured velocity. Many people had claimed 16" to 18" was optimum for velocity. As you see from the topic below. That was not the case.

Oh, I need to get the 39a into a gunsmith after the hunting season rush and get the barrel trimmed, crowned and the dovetail added back in.

The cut is at a 20" barrel length. I left the dovetail their as a reference so the new dovetail for the shorter barrel could be accurately located making it easier to modify my mag tube when I shortened it.

I hope to complete this project this winter.

ok, that makes sense. You have a round barrel. Mine is octagon and the bottom is a lot easier to find. Yeah, I hope to get mine done this winter too. Id like to get it done tomorrow, but I doubt that would happen. lol

I did get a new restore project today. My Uncle just gave me his 1972 Honda CB175 Super Sport Motorcycle. Its been sitting for many years, but still in pretty good shape. I started riding bikes at the age of 9, and stopped for some stupid reason in my 30s, but Ive been thinking about getting another one, and this looks like a fun way to get back into it. Just another thing to spend money on Laughing

oldguns.net/sn_php/marlinlookup.php

heres another you might like. It can date your gun from the serial number.

Says mine was made in 1886

oh, also, my dad had the right stock for it. Just need to make the forearm/pump part.

dan1dad, both interesting Internet sites. Thanks! Glad you found the stock. You might list the Marlin 94 parts on the forum.

when you get the stock fitted, post some pictures so we can see your progress.
