Thanks for the warm welcome, guys. Bushmaster, There was only one Cochrane in commission in the 70's and 80's so she must be the one. I was only able to get a few parts of her to Nevada with me. Thats all thats left of her except for my website.
I know, I know, stay on topic..... I read the rules...
I have lots of favorite rifles

You must be another ol' codger then...I retired in 1986 as the MPA on the USS Pledge (MSO-492).
I'm actually a practicing "Curmudgeon"....And I'm good at it...
Never was able to vote as I really don't have a favorite rifle except the one that hits what I aim it at...

Bushmaster,
We all know you like Winchester rifles
Maybe I should get myself a lever action someday I'm thinking of a smaller caliber though maybe one of thouse highpowerd pistol rounds ??

Where is Thompson Center?
I've had nothing but the best help from them. Course I can drive over to there Custom Shot and talk to them in person but very happy with the products and their helpful attitude.

Didn't see them listed - - but after picking up a few and spending some time climbing up steep mountains for the elk early bow season, I'm thinking about a nice lightweight Kimber Montana. Stainless/synthetic for bad weather and easy to carry. Trying to decide on what chambering - might go with the 300 WSM. - - -

Since 1988 I've been using an Interarms Mark X (Mauser action) built by Zastava of Yugoslavia, in 30.06. Great rifle, shoots great and is always reliable.
Have used it for javelina, deer, bear and hopefully and elk in Dec.
#2 My new .204 Ruger. It is a Howa 1500 w/ SS bull barrel, Boyd laminated "pepper" thumbhole stock-shoots great and looks beautiful.

I think savage is a top notch gun , striaght shooting right out of the box.
I had to choose marlin. the two guns I shoot the most are a marlin 22 lever aciton, and a marlin 30-30 lever action. and soon some time in the future I will own a marlin 45-70 cowboy lever action.
to be honest, after getting my bushmaster 223, I have shot it more than my marlins.
with dove season opening up. I probley have shot my winchester ranger 12 gage shot gun alot lately. enough to make my shoulder all balck and blue.

Didn't someone forget to list Ruger? Not all that fancy, but good solid built guns (my Ruger#1 might be considered fancy). How many out there don't own a Ruger 22 of some sort?

My favorite would have to be my Winchester Model 70 30-06. Many Manitoba whitetail have fallen to that rifle and it has never let me down. A little worn after 37 years of use but still works. .

1st would be my Marlin 1895 45-70, followed by a Savage in .243 & a Bushmaster in .223.
Keep it coming...
