Thanks Mr Moose!

Here's what the stock looks like...totally hollow. I got a gallon of aircraft epoxy I could fill the but in and the fore end maybe add some rebar and that might add some weight and kill some flex till my funds recover and I can get the B&C stock...

some epoxies are exothermic and could adversely affect (melt) the plastic stock. I think if you stiffen the fore arm, the flexing weakness will be at the front of the action which is where it might already be.

Your loyal 20ga "friend for life" pump was sacrificed to get "shorty". Why don't you treat another firearm in your coral with the same destiny to get the stock?

Stovey,
I have a Savage .308 with a very similar stock. Too light and flexible. I added #8 lead shot to each of the "cells" and filled it with Marine epoxy. It isn't perfect, but it'll do until I can get a new stock.

filling it with something will make it quieter too. I hunted with a fella carrying a weatherby with a plastic stock once it sounded like he was carrying a gtar everytime it brushed past a branch it was too noisy for my liking.

Howa makes Weatherby's low-end rifles but will are the actions the same for their high-end rifles, i.e., are the stocks interchangeable?

Bingo- zactly what I was thinking of... I got all that laying around in the shop. Shot. Perfect "rebar". Used same for loading butt's on light trap guns too, it works! Great minds think alike. Very Happy

Yepper- the Howa 1500 and WV are the same. Both are excellent barrled actions no matter what's under them and you'll be damn hard pressed to find something more accurate or robust for twice as much and there's ton's of aftermarket for them both.

To expand on Vince's thought- excellent suggestion, if I cant get this one any stiffer I'll pop for the B&C modles mentioned earlier and then it's a done deal. I don't mind too much it's tupperware, it got me in the door with a super barrel and action and they ahd to cut costs somewhere and I'm glad they did it there and not the metal work.

Another thought is dump your lead shot a little at a time into the stock and use that expanding installation foam a little at a time to build up layers in the stock. We did this on my sons rifle and it worked great, also kept the noise down when bumping into tree branches and what have yah.
