New AR trigger

A buddy of mine was getting an after-market trigger for his AR so I decided to join the parade. We had the triggers installed by our gunsmith. First trip to the range after that... His doubled on the second shot, then seemed to settle out. When I tried mine I fired 8 rounds with 4 trigger pulls: a single, a double, a triple and another double. Naturally I quit and put the thing away. Took it back to the gunsmith today and he checked and test fired it, no problems. Seems that this trigger has a VERY short reset and I was allowing it to reset under recoil and then pulling again when it bounced back forward. My trigger technique needs some adjusting if I want to keep this trigger in the AR. I am pretty pleased with the way the trigger feels though.

Oh, I sent emails to both my gunsmith and the trigger manufacturer immediately after I got home from the range last Sunday. The gunsmith responded within a couple of hours. Haven't heard anything from the manufacturer and that is disappointing.

I had a " drop in " 3# Timney for my AR start doubling took it back to the shop I bought from they adjusted per Timney and it continued to randomly double so Timney sent me a new trigger I put in and have had no problems with this one. Very light triggers on AR's can take a bit of getting use to.

Pumpkinslinger, which one did you get? I've had good luck with my mil-spec triggers. Not as crisp or light as after-market but with the "15-minute" spring modification, some trigger grease, and a couple of thousand round through my AR 22 LR. They do pretty well and I've gotten lots of complements on them. One day though, I'll probably get an aftermarket.

I had a 2 1/2 lb jerd trigger installed in my DPM 223 works fantastic,very pleased with the results.I also purchased a new scope but I think it will work better for running shots with the red dot on it .
