Good idea Elvis. My daughter used a waxy substance to stop her horse chewing the stall timbers...it tasted terrible as well.

I have some powder here, called Bitrex, that you mix with isopropyl alcohol. Put it on a desired item, its guaranteed to stop you putting it in your mouth ever again. All you need is the tiniest amount (a match stick barely dipped in the powder then mixed into about a thimble full of alcohol) wiped onto whatever it is you don't want chewed and "Bob's yer uncle". I've stopped a couple of friends wives from chewing their nails using this stuff...they hated me after they got a taste of it, but it worked. My Dad worked with a friend years ago making things for a business called Wierdos Magic Shop, and they used this stuff to make bitter toothpicks . They also made some other fun things that I have here as well.

I've never chewed barn timbers....thought about it....never chewed, and I suppose Tabasco sauce might make the splinters more friendly. There's probably a time of year (taxes due, school's letting out) or some upcoming obligation that might make you want to chew barn timbers.....but jeeeez not this time of year.

not present
never inhaled

Nope never chewed on a crib.....got the crabs once...didn't cheeeeew on them either...they did a job on me....and no it wasn't from some unwashed sailor, it was from my bunk mate in boot camp. I slept on the bottom bunk and the slime bag in the top bunk was picken em off and droppin them on me. After a while quite a few people were squirming in the hot sun when they would migrate from a hot area to a cooler area on your body and standing at attention while this is going on is unnerving as you can expect, along with itchy. The cure was some shampoo my brother sent me. After a locker inspection found my shampoo was prescribed to some one else....my brother is a pharmacist...they didn't believe me....but they did call and confirm finally...then they asked me if they could pass it around the barracks to treat other people squirming with the madness of crabs....

that answer
your question?
I know you
were fishing
you're so
bad

What...no kerosene wash down Suz? That, along with total removal of all hair, was the home remedy when I was a young fella. The chemist "prescribed" a mercurial based soap and cream...worked for me.

Yup, you're probably correct mate...but the Crabis Itchus didn't survive, it sorted them out real quick. I must admit, the kerosene wash down after the shave wasn't fun...in fact it was decidedly uncomfortable to say the least.

Hummm...Loggers in the Great Northwest years ago used to take a diesel bath before going to town to remove all critters that might be infesting them.

My how we do digress from "ear chewin'" to "cribbin'" to "crabs".

What a forum!!

Getting back to the ear chewing...Dad had a dog many years ago that suffered badly from little black flies biting the tips of his ears. His ears were always red raw from the bites, so he spoke to his mate who was a pharmacist and he gave Dad some concoction he made up. It had a Vaseline base with some other bits and pieces in it and it worked a treat. Didn't smell the best, but it not only healed the mess made by the flies, but it also kept the flies away.
