The snakes hung in the tree were killed by another guy during Spring Turkey season. The rattlers were hung in the tree for the picture taking. Sorry if the picture offends anyone.
But we have a surplus of Mr. No Shoulders in parts of Texas. Their favorite habits are rocky crags, cliffs, cracks, and sinkholes, for them to winter over in. Sometimes the sinkholes or dens will be crawling with snakes sunning in the early spring on a sunny day. In my parts they stay out till sometimes-late November and come back out in March.
I take my boys and there friends, camping out at family ranch in September for Dove hunting. We always kill several rattlers and we skin them, gut them, clean them, and have a Dove and snake Barbecue. Grilled over Mesquite wood or charcoal. Or Chicken fry with a little salt and pepper. Or stuff with jalpeno pepper, cream cheese, and dip in Italian dressing, and grill. Yes it tastes just like chicken or frog legs and is good clean meat compared to what you buy at the store. Just take getting over the thought of eating a snake. The head is the only body part that contains the poisonous venom and we always cut it off for safety and our own sense of security!
They are a hazard to ranching and farming, livestock, dogs, and you have to be on the constant watch where you step or reach. I know of several people whom have been bitten and it is very painful and can cause severe permanent muscle tissue damage or death if not treated immediately.

I once watched a RoadRunner kill a rattlesnake. The RoadRunner would stay just out of reach of rattler strike and fan his wing at rattler. After a while RoadRunner wore the snake out and jumped on the snake’s back, pecked, and severed the snake’s head in just a few seconds. The biggest I have ever killed was 6’ 5” and had 18 button left on he tail.

Commute kindof sucks but its not horrible. My former small company is all excited they broke 100,000 units sold of their last game... the company I'm at now, the last "crappy" game they did sold 750k units. So you can understand why people are very positive there... oh yea, and disney pays royalties on units sold to the development team unlike my former company.

I'm excited and pretty happy about the job.

I tell you what.
I reckon I am very, very very, familiar with all of this. Lived 13 years in Garland, worked in Richardson, Mesquite, played in Rowlett, Sachse, Wylie and shopped in Las Colinas, Arlington, & the Gallaria. Family still lives in Garland.
Most of DFW and areas I mentioned above are covered in signs that I have designed and installed when I lived there. But do not be confused I am an Okie. Go OU!!!!!!!!!!
I have many recipes for rattler and dove and alligator from my dad.
I have thrown & been to a few bbqs in my day.
And like is there any other way to bbq than with mesquite and hickory???? dont think so. cant forget the salsa and guacamole with blue corn chips.
I know quite abit about snakes, thats why I asked who put them in the tree? I like 'em, alot. I cant tell but are these the Western diamonds?

Would you sell any of the skins? I know this guy in Manitoba that might like a holster or belt made from them, and if he doesnt I sure would.
I know how to skin and tan myself, but it's already done thats all the better
and I can just get right into makin it.

hey dallan, first lemme say congrats on the new job and personally i dont think the 20 minutes extra drive time versus the perks you are getting is not too bad a trade off!!
secondly I knew the title would get ya all to thinking my god whats wrong with him posting this on here... I wouldnt do that kinda stuff, i am a married man with two kids, and i try my darndest to keep them from the darker side of life, so i wouldnt just toss it out there like that.. but now they all need to know how things are done in the real world, the good and the bad, and this posting has both, baby snakers being created and at the other end BBQ!! and to go with the rattle bbq, never had it done like that, had it smoked. all i can say is it took about 30 seconds for the idea of eating snake to wear off, then it was my god this is good!! pop it in the microwave for a few seconds warm it up and oh man.. ok gotta go wipe the drool..

I've always believed in the old ways when you're out in the bush, if someone approaches your camp you welcome them in and you should be greeted with a welcome if you approach someone else's camp. I'm not offended by the photographs, but I wouldn't go into a camp that had rattlesnakes hanging from trees, dead or not. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone else, either, but to each his/her own.

Be glad to help out a fella OKIE with the skins. I don’t have any right now. I live in DFW and our ranch is out by Quanah 200 miles west. I will not be going back out there till probably September for dove hunt. I will get you some skins then. I will skin, scrape and put in zip lock bag with after soaking in ethylene glycol and ship to you. Unless you know of better way? I think the salt damages and dry them out too much. Got to depend on my boys and my brother whom are running ranch now. I became disabled in 1995 and have to use canes to get around and I am very limited on my walking and driving. Sure miss the good ole Quail hunting days that I really loved to do but that is life- got to move on and do the best you can. My dove /turkey hunting now is done from a chair setting under a tree or deer over a feeder but heck it still great being out there with all your friends and mother nature. Also some very good and wonderful friends whom put on deer hunts for Disabled Vets. I will PM you later for address.

you didnt hijack a thing my friend! i look at this place like a big ol campfire with a bunch of good friends sitting around with our feets up after a day of walking the woods!! as far as being disabled and still hunting my hats off to you, and if you ever ever get into this neck of the woods ya better look me up, i got a few connections that the one guy, a little brash but a good guy, does hunts for disabled vets and the like..

Tell your friends thanks from all the Vets for the hunts. The thoughts alone mean the world to these guys. It really means a whole lot for these guys to have the support back home that they really need. And there are more and more surviving IEDs and returning home with injuries ever day. Maybe someday I will get up your way. I know you have some pretty country and plenty of deer to go around. Wish we had your quantify of deer in Texas but there is to much barren land that wont support them very well. Also thanks for your PM.
