Now that you're hungry:

3 pounds venison, cubed
3 tablespoons olive oil
3 onions, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 pound bacon, diced
1 teaspoon curry powder
1 1/2 quarts water
2 teaspoons Bourbon whiskey
1/4 cup beer
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced

In a Dutch oven, brown meat in olive oil. Add onions, garlic and bacon. Cook until onions are soft and shiny, stirring frequently. Add remaining ingredients except for mushrooms; cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours, or until meat is tender. Add mushrooms and simmer 20 minutes more. Serve over rice. Serves 8 to 10. (I say up to 6, with seconds.)

He could have called for 1 tablespoon Bourbon (equals 3 teaspoons). I think the idea is to keep pouring a little extra each time the teaspoon is full. Then you end up with about 1 tablespoon and 2 teaspoons in the pot, and the remaining Bourbon in the diners.
That's what we did, and the meal was perfect.
