I bought it in 1988, these were the ones they rebarreled to .308. I bought it because I was going hunting with a friend , whose property was in a "Rifle County"and the price was right.(I hunted in a shotgun only county) The gun shot well, and I took 2 deer with it, But it wasn't a pretty gun. A couple of years later, I inherited a Winchester Model 88 and the old mauser didn't get much use. This spring, I decided to give it a face lift. Now that I finally got the scope mounted, I can take it out this weekend and get reaquainted. (hope the picture shows up)

Very nice pictures and thanks for sharing. I would be caution shooting hot .308 Winchester leads in a rifle based on a Model 1893 Mauser action (which is not as strong as a '98 Mauser action). Just the idle thoughts of an idle fellow. Take care...

Thank You Joe.
I load reduced loads for this gun to be on the safe side. It doesn't get a lot of use, but I like to take it to the range every so often and shoot 20- 30 rounds with it.
