Lets say you got 2 different options and both are real good choices, both will be fun and both will be probably just as good.
They both have some down falls, so they aren't perfect but just a real tough decision.
Help ??

Then it doesnt matter... its a win / win situation. Its hard for other people to answer questions like this though, what is high priority to me might be low priority to you and vice versa. If its truely that hard to make a decision, then throw a dart or something... but odds are sometime should be tipping the scales one way or another.

Well you all know I've finished college and I'm in the process of getting a job, and well both jobs seem interesting, and both jobs have there highs and lows. No clue how to pick one over the other.
rdncktink,
I wish it was about cars, guns, or girls those choices are a lot easier.

Most employers don't know you or your skills yet, that will be determined in time. They'll be checking you out to see if you can fit into long term plans. Doesn't matter which job you choose, but, I'd be interested in the company...are they survivor's? Are they paying out in retirement to anyone yet. How's the benefit package? How quickly can you move up? Do they give cost of living increases annually? Do they provide training? Is there a trial period? When can you expect a pay raise based on performance?
My goal was to retire at age 62 (not all based on receiving social security either)...will either of these companies get you to where you want to retire?
None of this may help you, but, it's what I was concerned about when I was job hunting. There's a lot more, but, that would involve my personal views on religion & politics, things you have to put up with in a working environment.
Keep it coming...

George,
Not too sure of a retirement package from ether, both companies are pretty old, both have a real background in experience and knowledge. Moving up and pay scale is based on how well someone preforms because its a technical/mechanical trade and its based on the persons skill in the trade.
Still retirement is a long ways away, I don't plan on retiring if you can believe that, I went 6 months after highschool without school or work and I didn't like it one bit. Odd isn't it ?? So my goal is to save for a piece of land, build a home to raise a family in and possibly start my own machine shop on my property as soon as I can.

A man wanted to get married. He was having trouble choosing among three likely candidates. He gives each woman a present of $5,000 and watches to see what they do with the money.
The first does a total make over. She goes to a fancy beauty salon gets her hair done, new make up and buys several new outfits and dresses up very nicely for the man. She tells him that she has done this to be more a attractive for him because she loves him so much.
The man was impressed.
The second goes shopping to buy the man gifts. She gets him a new set of golf clubs, some new gizmos for his computer, and some expensive clothes. As she presents these gifts, she tells him that she has spent all the money on him because she loves him so much.
Again, the man is impressed.
The third invests the money in the stock market. She earns several times the $5,000. She gives him back his $5,000! and rei nvests the remainder in a joint account. She tells him that she wants to save for their future because she loves him so much.
Obviously, the man was impressed
The man thought for a long time about what each woman had done with the money he'd given her.
Then, he married the one with the biggest boobs.
Men are like that, you know.
jk and wish you the best with your decision. Follow your gut feelings on the matter.
James

James interesting story.
My gut isn't giving me a feeling, except of confusion, hence why its a tough decision.

Dimitri,
If possible get to know some of the people that work at both places, because that could be a deciding factor on how much you like being there, co-workers sometimes work as a team, sometimes spend their days backbiting each other. Just a thought.

Well I went to the one company and sort of signed up. They expect me to show up Monday morning 8am to report for my first day at work. (Still need to talk to the HR manager as he was the one I was supposed to talk to today but he wasn't there to conform and finalize it).
And I'm pissed at the classified sections now, as all the appartment buildings in the area advertising they have appartments avalible apparently are advertising early and dont plan to have any till like September. So I need to look for other accommedations fast.
Might get a basement appartment as they seem like the only ones avalible.

Hey Big D,
You're in, that's the main thing. The rest of that stuff will fall into place for you, congrats on the new position

You aren't married yet, so this wouldn't pertain to you, but I would go to my wife an seek out her advice.
When deciding on a job, if the money is the same etc., I take into account how much vacation, days off and work schedule.
I give 100% while on the job, but I sure don't live for my workplace.
A long time ago, a great job was offered to me, and I was going to take it. One problem was that in the fall, the work hours increased, and it would pretty much be 6 and 7 days a week until winter.
My wife put the kibosh to that one in a big way. She said that I should never get a job that would hamper my hunting time, and she didn't even want to be around me if I couldn't hunt all that I wanted to in the fall.
Best advise that I ever got.
Good luck Dimitri, I'm sure that any move that you make will be the correct one.
