Good thing I bought my Marlin 336 30/30 back in 1972!

On another site one member posted his grief with a brand new marlin purchased last winter and the hassle of sending the rifle back to the manufacturer for repairs. It took 2 try's plus a letter to Remington's ceo the 2nd time to get it right.

I've been having trouble with mine too, of a different nature. Been chewing it over with Pumpkin trying to figure it out. I bought mine a few months ago and first thing I noticed was the sharp corners, which I smoothed over and did some touch up on. It was ok with me to do some work on it as it was a demo model and I got a great deal, it has some minor scratches too but no big deal. I just think of it as a used tool anyway and the Marlins just aren't as classic looking as others (to me anyway). So I figured why bother dolling it up and fussing over it. It will get great care any way you look at it.

If you get on the Marlin forum you'll find lots of people with headaches over the Remlin and all the inattention to detail that's plagued them.
