Dimitri, I can't believe you don't reload. That's part of the fun. And in most cases, you can get better performance out of your firearm if you do.

I reload almost exclusively for obvious reasons......

Other than the cost being a bit skewed to one side........It's gettin' hard to beat what's out there now for factory fodder.

Premiums that is......................

I have a 25-06/deer rifle that'l shoot bitty bug holes with Fed Vital Shock 115 Partition loads...........matches my own handload for it.

Some other stuff I've played with was equally impressive....wanna see a cheapie 300 RUM Core-Loct group, fired in the blowing snow at three hundred farm boy paces.......??

I reload to keep the psychoanalyst at bay. They tend to be more expensive...

G'Day Bushy. Mate, I reload for much the same reason.....helps keep me sane, oh yeah, and its a damn sight cheaper than buying factory ammo that isn't as accurate as my reloads...well mostly anyway.

Cheers, Vince

Wildswalker, like you, I did find some factory ammo that shoots .75 inch groups out of my Savage .243 at 100 yards, inside 2 inches at 200 yards. It's Federal premium 85 grain Sierra Gameking BTHP (P243D). I have yet to reload better in any 85 grain bullet I've tried. I have a 70 grain load I worked up that shoots inside an inch at 200 yards from a warm barrel, same gun, but it's the 85 grain load I wanted to duplicate. All other calibers I've loaded have performed better than any factory fodder, it's just the .243 I haven't mastered yet. And I'm about to get going on a 300 Weatherby Mag that should be interesting.

It takes a lot of patience to do better than factory, but, that's the fun of it. It's a great hobby & Bushy & Vince, it's great therapy!
Keep it coming...
