Slimjim...Don't you want to know what he was eating before being shot? and what the "pup" had for breakfast before going out to shoot this fine animal?
Good job with the "pups" Dawgdad.
Looks like he was shot in a corn field...

Illinois is a slug gun state so 12 ga sabot slug from a Mossberg 500 at about 20 yards 3 pm Pictures taken later as I needed help loading him in the truck.
He was eating corn on the cob when he died....

20 yards, you don't even need a sights for that shot! Have you considered the .358 WSSM in an AR platform? It meets the criteria for a handgun bullet in a rifle.

My slug guns are sighted in and patterned to 100 yards but all of the deer I take are under that. I just hate to track a wounded animal and prefer the bang flop I get with the Remington copper solids to the vitals.
Indiana allows pistol caliber sized rifles as of this year so carbines in .44 magnum etc. and AR's in .450 are in the field for the first time. If it is successful maybe we can hope Illinois will follow suit.

"Illinois"?? "On the Prairie"?? Well, now that you mentioned it...Chicago was awfull flat. Guess if you removed the buildings and got rid of all the trees and planted "prairie grass"..........Throw in a couple of buffalo and maybe a few Indians..........A covered wagon or two might help with the picture.

Chicago is not a part of "my" state. Kind of like the crazy uncle nobody claims.
