Since they have to use stuff that can be recycled to built cars...

l'Histoire se répète... didn't the Flinstones use wood and stones to built cars?

I'm with Vince on this one. After 45 years swingin' wrenches I've never seen this one. At the least he could have used Oak...

Since it is on a hoist, I'm going to say it was an emergency fix to get it to a mechanic... the fix was made by the owner who builds fences? for a living.

Vince and Bushy are right, 40+ years turning wrenches and I have never seen anything like this.

I'd say a woman did it
She looked under the car
Saw that there was a place to put a piece of timber
Hey Presto, another fashion statement
But will it catch on?

There's already a split in the grain but they mounted it just above the split, so really I don't see anything wrong....could have beveled the edges a bit...maybe a nice poly to finish it off...and a low gloss to hide any imperfections in the finish... Insane

I have.
But it was a fix on a 4wd that had broken a trailing arm and it was a 3hour slog to do 20 km back to the road.
A 3 layer tent pole, duct tape, zip ties and a rachet strap.
It actually got them home, 220km away.
Necessity is the mother of invention.

Ive seen steering arms held together with a leather dog collar
steering wheel replaced with set of vice grips
steering wheel with 12" cresent on centre nut taped in place
our farm landrover broke a front spring so we stuck one under it off old army 6x4 and it stuck out front by 6" but kept us going till we got proper one...buggered if I know how the old man got that to work but he did.
safety frame on Dads Alice Chalmers HD6 kept shearing off bolts on one corner so he put block of wood in there as a packer and used insulation tape to keep it in place...it had a bit of "give" so held
hay baling twine attached to windscreen wipers to pull them back and forwards...actually got that on a cat loader at work!!!!!
necessity is the mother of invention

Well after that I sure hope you know where the ladder is. I saw Suz cutting a switch from a pepper tree. They have spines.

Welcome to this fine site.
