Sounds good on the mushroom , the brendel hardness must be right . there was a comment about storage of the home-made powder. Cheers

mine is in 3 different plastic Jam pottles with firm lids on them....hopefully it will keep moisture out.the cupboard in the shed has always kept everything else in there dry so I dont see it being a problem....if it goes off(oops wrong thing to say) if it deteriats I will just have to find an old stump that needs blowing up and dispose of it HEHEHEHEHEHEHE.

Elvis ,,,, I thought ,I had a can of Black-powder . I finally found it today . a full 45-70 case held 75.4 -grains of FFF grade . 70 grains in the black-powder measure weighted out to be 68.2 on the scales.

Just think she poured out very smooth , even though it was bought back in the 1967 or 1968 , the price was only $4.50 plus tax. for a one pound can .

Does BP get more potent with age?

I don't really know , but I've read that you can wet it back down and remix it . So it'll come back to life . Scratch

This can was well sealed and poured out with a very smooth flow. Probably first time it's been open in over 30-plus years.

fff sounds like a fine stutter..... I realise its a fine small grain powder so it will fit much easier than a course grain.
the 54GRN bp LOAD felt fine so more than happy with results.
and yes Slimjim Ive horified up a rear sight so will get better idea of accuracy when I get a minute to poke some more loads down range.

Black powder can become less powerful whe wet but if it gets wet and is dried out it can get hotter.
Having said that, black powder will rarely make more than 15,000 to 17,000 PSI when loaded by the same volume as the powder charge before it was moistened and dried back out.
Double powder charges will produces slightly higher pressures but rarely enough to hurt the gun.

But the loads will kick more. Recoil from a BP load is bullet + weight of unburnt portion of the powder (x2 with double load).
