We don't judge people on what type of more primative tools they wish to use to hunt on this site.
After all we can all use your input maybe some of the membership will try even more traditional methods then a bow that you use based on your posts!

Gidday Grant. In days long gone mate, it was a knife and a spear...or dart as it appears they are called in some parts. The few crazies I know that hunt with a knife ensure that they use the correct type of knife. You will regularly hear of a particular type of knife referred to as a "pig sticker" because of the type of blade it has. It is meant to "stick" the pig in the neck region to ensure a quick death and to also bleed to animal.
But I do agree with your sentiments about "We owe it to the critters we hunt to finish them as quickly and painlessly as possible." It is the humane thing to do.

Another reason to finish them quickly is that (on a wild hog, anyway) if you don't, you run a very real risk of becomming the victim, yourself! Wild hogs are vicious, evil creatures with absolutely no qualms about shredding a human. They are fully capable of doing serious damage to your anatomy. I have the scars to prove it.

They might be viscious, but cannot be evil. They are merely trying to survive, and if shredding a human is = survival, so be it.

Hey, Vince:
Here is one of your countrymen doing a little fishing...the hard way!
Chips O'Toole, seconds before breaking the International World Speed Record for an unpowered watercraft.
Now THAT"S LIVIN!

I didn't mean evil in a spiritual sense. I meant they can be cunning, calculating and dangerous. Bad choice of words on my part. My apologies.

I got my first prey this morning with a Hunter/Killer-type Boomerang that I made. 2 Woodchucks and a large beaver. They really work!
I just bought a Bird-Hunting bola from Primitive Weapons.com and I am going bird hunting with it next week. It has 9 balls on it (go ahead and make the jokes. I have....LOL!). I was practising in the yard with it and almost knocked myself out! It reminded me why I don't play with Nunchakus anymore.

I would consider that an honor!
I think I'm geting the hang of this bola. I've only hit myself 3 times in the last 20 minutes with it.!

I finally got a bird with my bird-bola. It has 9 balls (no cracks, please) and is diffucuilt to get the hang of.
I finally got a crow with it this morning, after about 20 attempts. Yippee!
