The Henry was awesome. I mean how exact to the period is that rifle? The follower hit my hand at just about half mag, so when I switched I knew how many I had left. Load it on Sunday, shoot all week long!
I actually would love an old BPS, 10ga. (I'd cut it down for a brush jumper). Most versatile shot shell around. It can be loaded very light or for max kill with less recoil than a 12g 3.5" mag. for water fowl- it especially is killer for WF...same amount of pills, less pressure, better pattern than a 12ga. by far! 10ga rules.
Vinny- Those tubes are for Thumper- the .50 Beowulf I just built...no mixing those up with someone else when picking up brass!

That rifle makes me think about my Parker-Hale Volunteer, which is .451 whitword bullet weight 485 grs... not so bad for a straight shooting .45
but for cleaning I'll take the Hawkin.

That's a P1853 Enfield reproduction. Before burning thousands of blanks through it it shot pretty good. Now I'm not so sure.

stovie my good man...MOST modern .12ga's that are back bored arent a .12ga at all!!!!! they are a .10ga firing a .12ga shell. the guage is determined by bore size not cartridge used......... the rule makers havent cottoned on to this or just cant be bothered with the cafuffle it would make trying to enforce the rules.

This is a link to the complete website. Note that it is actually a commercial website, but there is some damn fine info in there...

To my understanding Mossberg 835/935 are the only guns that have the 10ga bore !!! (.775)
Brownings are back bored to .742
