Anyone using a portable hunting blind ???

Considering buying one of the quick set variants.

Trying to get some opinions and recommendations.

I have considered one for quite some time, to use when sniping rabbits. The only reason I would look at one is for a bit of shade...more comfort for me really. Although, when hunting fox it would be handy.

This is one I have been looking at recently. Depending on what it's made of though, it could get a tad hot, but it does have it's own seat. Incorporating a tripod style rest and it would make life easier too I reckon.

the laydown blinds have revolutionized goose hunting over here, and alot of guys now use them for ducks too. the ability to set up in middle of a grassed field and blend in makes them very versatile.

I've used a "pop-up" style ground blind some. Fairly comfortable, as far as keeping a cold wind off. I threw down a thick plastic sheet for a floor after a little time in there to cut down on moisture and noise. I had a young buck just about stick his head in the window, looking for the doe call I just blew, so I guess it fooled him pretty well.

The blind I used was damaged in a storm and I haven't had it out in a while so I can't remember the make or model. I'll try to remember to check that tomorrow.

Use whatever shelter type you have, place a few large pieces of plastic mirrors around the shelter.. Voila.. best blind you could ever get.

layout blind is basically a fabric coffin blind. you know the sun lounger chairs that sit on the deck??? shites of things to get to fold up with short legs about 10" off the ground??? picture one of those without the legs inside a oversized sleeping bag cover with a lightweight frame to keep it in box shape. you lie/semi sit in it with shottie between legs/barrel out by knees and look out through flaps closed down on top of you...birds come and you simply sit up opening flaps as you go and shoot birds flaring at your feet. trick Im told is all in position so birds fly in arc that suits your prefered field of fire.
they have loops on outside you stick grass etc into to blend them in.

Ah, ok, I've seen something along those lines before. No use to me mate, my snoring would alert all the critters within a hundred metre radius.

I use a Trekker T-200 blind, they were on a super sale at Cabelas once so I thought I would give it a try. I think I paid $39 for it. It actually works well, roomy in side. My only complaint is it has tiny windows. It is made of spring steel you twist around into a figure 8 then fold it over on itself when taking it down. It basically unfolds itself when you go to set it up. It fits in a bag with shoulder straps like a backpack. Used it off and on from time to time. I've had elk within 10 yards of it, turkeys within 10 ft... so it works well enough. I like to get it close to existing brush though.

Chamber, have you read the comments? (or the 1 comment)

" I'm now returning my SECOND blind.
DO NOT BUY THIS P.O.S!

BOTH exploded I'm my face when I set them up. The PLASTIC shitty hub ring can't support the load emparted by the structure.
They look great, seat 2 very well and are very roomy. If built out of metal the ring would work great, but not the case.
Shame on Ameristep. A little product R&D would go a looong way."

I have a Final Approach layout blind that works very good for geese and ducks and I have an Ameristep Bone Collector ground blind that have the Quad hubs and it works very good easy to set up and IF you take your time when you first collapse it and make sure all sides are moving in the right direction you should never have any problems packing it up. I also have several small fold up blinds that extend a couple of feet up and are very handy when I am doing multiple sets coyote hunting.
