Dimitri,

Sure, my tip for you is to get hands on training because like i said....by the way things sound in a machine shop can tell you everything you need to know.....touch in a machine shop can tell you everything you need to know as well....and with expierence if something looks like it's running wrong, it probably is. That is what you have to learn and WILL gain with expierence.... anything really that i would tell you techanical wise, probably would be something you wouldn't use. It's been some years now, and while things are done somewhat the same, by the time you get in things will have changed 3 fold. Cool Or like 'ol Bushy said Obsolete Smile

Bushmaster, Nope....shutup is something i can't quite grasp the concept of. Very Happy Laughing I got these depends here you asked for.....you wanted the panty liners right? ROFL

10Ring,

I'll assume you never heard the saying "No matter how much things change, they always stay the same" Razz

Its true for most things in life Wink Nothing is "Obsolete" Razz

Another way that precludes disassembling the engine other then to remove #1 sparkplug is to install a piston stop, made from an old sparkplug drilled out and tapped for a 3" bolt, inplace of the sparkplug. Install a pointer of your own choosing and a blank disc of metal (wheel) on the crankshaft front pulley bolt. Slowly turn the engine until the piston makes contact with the piston stop. Mark the wheel where your pointer is. Rotate the engine in the other direction until the piston makes contact with the piston stop again. Mark the wheel where your pointer is... Now split the distance between the two marks in half and you have TDC (Top Dead Center So's 10ring understands what TDC means)...This will tell you if the vibration dampener has slipped or where to start making the new timming marks if none are present...

Dimitri,

Yeah i've heard the term....but it never said anything about modern technology and computers Cool And yeah, automation plus robotics is another thing i had to learn about......i may still be pretty young, but i was taught old school and while i got it, i hated it Sad

Bushmaster,

Don't make it out like they aren't yours and don't get the lady to take blame either.....you may just be useful but Censored and Censored ...so with that being said, you're still a good guy in my book! ROFL Nananana Fencing Very Happy

To reiterate the topic title, I carry the fantastic plastic, recycled milk jug AKA Glock with me Cool Laughing

Bushmaster,

Anything that invovles handon work seems to be dieing nowadays. Sad

10Ring,

Modern Technology still has a hard time replacing tried and true methods. Since this is a firearms board I'll mention that new hightech waste of money the OICW that HK tried making with all the gagets and onboard computers. It doesnt work properly as of yet. Razz

Robotics and CNC stuff doesnt interest me too much but when they teach me it I dont think I'll have a problem. I got my own CAD program (a cheap version for "home" or "hobby" type use but its pretty good) and its fun to design things in it. Just takes a while to get everything just right. Its faster for me to make it myself then use the CAD programs Sad

Sometimes we need to take a step back to figure out how to make a leap forward Wink

Sorry but....LOL...ok now...Just wait until you "have" to learn, and quick because your boss is jumping down your throat (plus have to translate in a language that you don't even know on the control panel....it was french for me). You may think your parents are bad sometimes....just wait till you get a paycheck and don't have the time to take even a half step back.

Back then, it was my measly salary and overtime that was making the company millions.....and when stuff rolls down hill and you are the manager, you will see what i'm talking about Wink But then again, it was my unethical ways about doing things different because i knew what i was doing from being "old school" Cool
When ya go to school... never follow, always lead! Wink

Or follow those that are going your way. But when they change course and you disagree...Make your own way...

An old adage: Either lead, follow or get the hell out of the (MY) way...

Dimitri,

However, what if it were a Euro machine with a let's say Italian program with American measurments because that's what it called for and there wasn't time "yet" to tanslate....Trust me, it was hell for a few weeks and that's what i went through....but atleast the numbers were the same.....well except for converting everything to metric working in decimeters Sad

Bushmaster...VERY, VERY WELL SAID! Cheers

10Ring,

Well then I'd feel bad for you who in there right mind uses "decimeters" ?? wtf

I'm in Canada and we "use" the metric system and we dont use it based on a 10cms scale. Always at the 1cm scale going up to 1 meter and milimeters. But never a decimeter Confused
