Just curious if any of you out there use or have used Starline brass. What did you think of it? How does it compare to other brands? I was considering using it in my Redhawk in 45 Colt and wondered how it handled hotter loads.

I have not used it myself, but from all of the positive reviews I would not hesitate to buy it. See Cabela's, and Midway's reviews on this brass.

I agree with Lester, I haven't used it either but from what I've heard it must be excellent brass. Smile

Hey Rob, I use Starline cases exclusively for my .357 and I don't run any wimp load either. All of my loads tend to stay at the top of the load charts. I would highly recommend them.

I'm using Starline for some warm .45 Colt loads and like it.

WW, Rem, Starline -- for straightwall cases, it would make no difference in terms of brass life, accuracy etc. I've used all three brands with total satisfaction.

On my Dillon 550, I prefer Remington because it sizes easier and has given outstanding service. I also use Remington for hot loads in the 45 Colt* and 44 Magnum and see little difference between that brand and the others mentioned. Just so happens I get Remington at the gunshop where I work for a significant discount.

I would like Handloader to correct me if I'm wrong on this one, but last year while developing a reload for my Ruger Blackhawk .41mag., the reloads using Starline brass seemed a tad stronger than with the general types of brass, using the same powder charge.
I knocked down the charge a little on the Starline, and all was well.

Eric, I know that I can tell the difference when sizing Starline brass vs. Rem or Win. Sometimes I'll clean a bunch of one type of case and then sort them as I resize them. Starline seems stouter. I haven't done any measurements of case thickness or volume though.

Just weigh the starline brass compared to Winchester or Remmington brass. If it weighs more the you should load it a bit lighter. (about 8 grains of brass = 1 grain of powder in the same volume)
