Question Recently purchased a custom Ruger 338-06. Looking for some good reload data for this rifle. I will be using the rifle mainly for Elk but possibly for Caribou this fall. Would like to use Nosler 210 part. or 225 accubonds Thanks

rl- 15 starting 49.5grns-max 53.5grns
h380 starting 54.5grns-max 58.5grns
AA3100 starting 58grns-max 62grns

I can tell you what I load for my 338-06, and it is the load I use for elk, but I don't use Nosler Partitions. When I started loading my own I was a Partition fan, but I believe I have found something much better - but that is a whole different conversation.

My load uses: 250 grain Barnes XFB bullets . . . Remington 9 1/2 primers . . . 55.0 grains of H414 powder . . . COL 3.283".

It has a muzzle velocity of 2330 fps and a muzzle energy of 3014 foot pounds.

My loads are:

200 grains spitzer SP, 62.0 grains of IMR4350 AND CCI 200 primers

225 grain spitzer BT, 61 grains of IMR 4350 and CCI 200 primers

I get good groups with both sub. 1 inch. I started out using Speer bullets and have stayed with them. I like the 225 grain bullet better. I just have to many 200s to shoot up before I buy more 225s.
