Welcome, Diesel!

I remember seeing keyholes while in the pits, too. One of the weaknesses of the Garand design was that there was no way to clean it from the breech end with a rod. Consequently, the muzzle end started reminding you of certain ladies around Subic Bay, and those jointed cleaning rods made from steel didn't help. As the wise man said, "Mr. Cleaning Rod is not your friend."

Diesel,

If this was the first time someone hijacked a thread I'd have to agree, but Dallan from the time I've first came on has patience with us using this forum more of a "camp fire" discussion forum about hunting, shooting and the outdoors, and being welcomed when your a new member is a must! People must feel at home at this "camp fire". Very Happy

Dimitri

2 things cause keyholed hits-- loose bullets or shooting bullets with too slow of a twist to stabilize them. the longer the bullet the faster the twist required to stabilize them thats why you can fire 36gr in 223 remington in a 1-14 twist just fine but cant fire say a 77gr hpbt in the same gun the longer bullet will not stabilize the 77gr required a minimum of 1-9 twist.

Yeah, welcome aboard.

Here's hoping that being from PA you'll learn us something about groundhog harvesting.

Diesel, you must have a yarn or three 'bout the days when there were plenty of long shots...

Absolutely.

The VLD's are long for their weight & it is bullet length that has the most bearing on how fast a rifling twist is needed.

Hey K.W.
I've been thinking about you as of late.
Do you and Mrs. K.W. have room for me if O'bama gets elected???
I do dishes, and am a pretty good cook.
I'll even share my guns with you.

If your answer is yes, don't be surprised to see Bushy following me over your way.

Eric Very Happy Very Happy

Oh boy, ElyBoy!
You and Bushy are welcome, but mayby without your guns. There is the new gunlaw here in Finland.
I think, you are like first gunowners in my country. You need mental health evidence. Doctors will not give papers like that. Because it takes very long time, and they have only 20 min for it. It means now days ,new gunowners canĀ“t to have guns.
If you can to find frendly doctor writing that yuo are ok, yuo must to shoot one year in the some shooting club. After that you maybe can to have .22LR pistol for one year too.
You are welcome for cook, because I hate it so much. Sad Very Happy Sad from left to right: Eric, Kauko and Bushy.
