I got a jump on Old Man Winter as well as this year's mowing last fall. My son and his friend acquired a Simplicity dealership and I was impressed with the quality. Since I mow almost 4 acres and have just over 100 yards of drive to clear of snow and my old tractor was due to be replaced, I had them fit me with a new mower/blower. Been blowing snow for years with a walk-behind blower, but this rig gets the entire job done in less than a quarter of the time and keeps me out of the wind. Getting too old for walking behind one with 30-below temperatures, wind chills and driifts up to 4 feet. 52-inch fabricated deck should make the mowing go a little faster too. Full suspension and air-ride type mesh seat ought to save my old back too!

Very nice! That cab should sure keep the flakes off your back and the full suspension will keep the aches out of it.
I was back and forth with the plow versus the snowblower. For heavy snows the blower is definitely the way to go, but this past winter there weren't any snow falls the plow couldn't have easily dealt with. Especially the several times when we had 3 or 4" of slush. If left overnight the slush quickly becomes 3-4" of ice, so I like to get at that as soon as I can and the plow can fly through that quickly. I have a quick attach set up for the front end which allows a fast change from plow to blower so I may yet get the blower and have the use of either as the snow fall dictates. I could just pull up to whichever seems the most feasible.

I was going to post a picture of my lawn mower but he was a little embarrassed about the idea. Maybe I can sneak one the next time he comes over.

Since it seems that there isn't anything between us and the North Pole but a single-strand barbwire fence in poor repair and the wind never stops, we get nearly constant drifting. Just a couple inches of snow usually creates substantial drifts across my drive. I had plowed when we first bought this place, but soon found that I ran out of room to push the snow. With a blower I can throw it away from the drive. This particular rig can throw snow under the right conditions up to 35 feet. Only problem is that like anything, the more mechanics involved, the more that can go wrong.

We've had some really bad snows over the years, but lately it's been more of a string of nuisance snowfalls or several inches of slush. I remember some bad ones in the past that left 5.5' drifts down the driveway and even the one ton truck I had at the time struggled to plow through it. Like you said I was always trying to push the snow back. For big snowfalls nothing beats a blower to keep the snow piles away from the driveway.

I have a snow-blower and I'm happy with it, since it does a good job of keeping the driveway nice and clean. My problem is that city snow plow that keeps filling my driveway entry just as I finish cleaning it. That guy must do it on purpose and he must hide around the corner to see when I finish cleaning the snow out of my drive way and then he comes barrelling down the road and pushes as must snow on my property as he can.

I think I have the same snow plow driver as you. He likes to see how many mailboxes he can knock over.

Wow! That guy sure gets around. He must swing by here in his spare time after burying you guys.

You only hope you can lose it in tall grass.

My Mean Green Mowing Machine. It has to mow about three acres.

with large land to mow, I am surprised that robotic mowers are not more popular.

You have to use sheep or goats to mow the lawn. Horses are too finicky about what they will eat.
