I think it would be more efficient if it had our mods ....

Well finally got around to really working on the controller this weekend,
Using the Console, I got the Arduino with CAN shield to talk to the console and everything is looking good.
Interestingly enough my ability to make educated guesses at the CAN bus meanings looking at the Hex code was bang on, everything I thought something was, was right based on tonight's testing.
In the next week I'll have a video of my controller running the wheel.

Arduino! I haven't heard that name in years, I'm glad they're still around, I always wanted to play with one but don't think I have enough background to figure out what to do with it. Good job Dimi I hope you post the video, I wanna see it!

Would have been cheaper just to use a AVR but the professor wanted things to be the same.

Talking from the Arduino, pretending to be something else, I can make the system think I am any link of the puzzle. and in the video you'll see me working as the console I somewhat proudly display as disconnected from the system.

Suzanne,
If your really interested, get a kit, ( www.sparkfun.com/products/10339 ) anybody that can use a computer can do it with time and trial and error. Anyone that can't do it, has the same critical thinking skills and mental ability as a goldfish. All it takes is abit of will power.
