I've got a question about M4 feed ramps. I understand that ideally the feed ramp cuts are made in both the upper and in the barrel insert. Anyone have an idea on how best to go about getting them aligned when putting a barrel on? Does the alignment just fall in place when the barrel is fit into the notch in the receiver?

Joe,
I may yet decide to go that route and buy a complete upper, but I want to look at doing it either way before I decide.

To early to tell how the Imr 8208 is going to do. I loaded 15 rounds with it 3 different charges. It seems the hotter I make loads the better this RRA likes it Very Happy . My last 5 shot group was just under a inch with 4 shots under 3/4 witch was the hottest load at 23.5 grains( Hodgon lists a max load at 23.8 ) I have no signs of pressure my primers look good so I'm gonna step it up a little more and see if I can get it better Very Happy

Nice groups there you all. Hope I can do as well. My results with factory and white boxes with 55 grain bullets are less than great. So I am planning on doing some reloading with the heavier bullets.

I have a 223/5.56 with a multi caliber lower. The upper has a 16 inch free floating barrel with a 1 in 7 twist. I have some Sierra 69 grain HPBT Match, Hornady 75 grain BTHP, Nosler 77 grain HPBT and some Sierra 77 Grain HPBT Matchking bullets. The powder I have is 3 lbs of H-335 and one pound of H-4350.

A friend recommended the H-335 for my AR reloads, so I got the 3 pounds when it was scarce. I had great results with the H-335 under 110 grain 30-06 bullets. Clover leafs at a hundred yards. I'm hoping that the H-335 will do as great for the 223.

So what say you guys? any results with H-335 and the heavier bullets?

Thanks
OB

Heavier bullets should do go in your 1:7 twist. 55gr should do ok also. I'm learning that reloading for a semi-auto is a different ball game than for a bolt action. As such, I can't give you any tips.

Okay I'm in a local dealer is selling n.i.b. Olympic Arms for @600 depending on what you get, I got a pretty basic one and found a great deal on mags Brownell's is selling qty25 30rnd mags at @240 called a buddy and we're gonna split a case. Those look like pretty good mags I especially like the c.s. springs.

It looks like the plinker plus on their website, which is real close to what was issued to me, except the barrel is shorter but I like the handiness. Everything else is very familiar. The barrel is 16" it isn't marked with a twist rate.

You got a winner! I haven't heard of a price that low in years. Looks like its a 1:9 twist which should handle up to 69gr bullets. Enjoy.

o.k. you are right they are pretty addidting, I'm already thinking "What if,". So if I swap uppers for an optics ready half, would you go flat top; or one of the elevated optic platforms that allow use of standard high rings? I can see advantages to both, for instance using standard rings on the elevated platform seems like a much more rigid solution, however, I've also been watching the thread that has the removable base\rings and that looks highly functional (although once I get an upper set I probably wouldn't be taking it apart very often.) The other thing that nags my thoughts is the 6-223 is it worth it or would a tight twist 223 upper get you the same thing from a heavier .223 bullet, maybe a vld?
