Every time I've seen base and ring screws come loose have been with cheap and or miss matched components.
I have never needed bubble gum or it's likes to keep things in place.
Get a quality set of bases and rings from the same company and put them on.
I highly recommend the use of a lapping tool for the rings !!!

Dont have to lap with Zee Signature rings.
Did a bunch of sniffing around with some good suggestions here. Gonna try the Zee Sig rings like I got on Boomer and see how those go. (wiating on some spare funds...)

He's back and his usual disagreeable self...Vacation didn't do him any good. I can see that.
I have a Redfield Compact 3 X 9 on my Browning A-bolt. I used Redfield rings and mounts. No problems for the last 15 years. Scope and rings still solid and on target. Redfield used allen screws in those days.

Back in the day I used nothing but Redfields.
