Suz, thanks for additional input. It is interesting to see how people's perspectives had morph'd around the country. Texas independant and conservative mindset is something I never fail to appreciate.

Suz,
"obtuse interpretations of the Second Amendment"
translates to, "dull (or incompetent) interpretations of the second ammendment"
Basically saying that someone misunderstands the second amendment and is spouting it anyway.

PaulS!! With that guy's "obtuse" language interfering with my "obtuse" state of mind, his reference to the Barney Fifes and Sheriff Andys made it unclear of whom he was talking about. The Barneys are the paranoid gun flaunters and the Andys are the politicos. I just wish he had stated his feelings more clearly and quit with the politically correct stance of not intimidating. More people need to speak out and say what they mean to say, so that we can get some aliances going. You can't pick up dog doo-doo with your bare hands without getting the stink on you, but getting the stink on you is the reality. If we have to interpret the tip-toeing then there's a reason for it. They want you confused. Most people won't ask for clarification and you can sit there smug in the belief that you've snowed somebody without exposing yourself. The problems with our society today are stemmed from the (shyness or) political correctness we use to hide behind the truth. What I'm getting at in this guy's response is that most people will read what he wrote and not know what he said, but will agree with him wheather he's on their side or not, because they won't take the time to cypher it. They'll just say, yeah, sounds good to me and admire his clever prose. Our newest president has that down and has taught quite a few lessons on what you get in return for not interpreting. I guess that's why I asked "what did he say" because you really don't know where he's coming from, and he may be as confused, as he is clever. Sorry PaulS I didn't mean to rant, and it's not a reflection on what you said. If there were more great minds lilke you and I around, the world would be a better place! Got my panties in a monkey's knuckle over that one. Trouble is, it's been freeekin rainin and I wanna go shoootin! Say Pauly, howz the weather in Wash?
Somebody get me a strawberry milkshake!! NOW!

Since the laws about carrying guns in Federal parks changed in Feb. I've been trying to figure out what that means for carrying on the Blue Ridge Parkway. All I find is obfuscation. They won't come out and tell what the law is now but they remind you that you are responsible for knowing it...
By the way, I did find the NC law I was looking for:
"Going armed to the terror of the people
By common law in North Carolina, it is unlawful for a person to arm himself/herself with any unusual and dangerous weapon, for the purpose of terrifying others, and to go about on public highways on a manner to cause terror to others. The N.C. Supreme Court states that any gun is an unusual and dangerous weapon for purposes of this offense. Therefore, persons are cautioned as to the areas they frequent with firearms."
I was told that this law was intended to help prevent armed motorcycle gangs from scaring the locals.

Pumpkin!! Well they didn't make it wide open, they do say "for the purpose of terrifying" and "in a manner to cause terror". Wonder how they define what your purpose is. Well actually, if you think about it, that law is probably just the same as threatening with intent, which is a pretty common law, but they worded it such that open carry is in fact threatening. I think that's what things are coming to with our current state of awareness of guns. The media is so helpful in that way, letting us know, in obscure ways (for instance) when an armed person is using an "assault" rife, or when the Glock pistol came out, the only use for that thing is to hide it and get on a hi-jacking flight. Let's all move to Alaska.....fewer people fewer a-holes there. Scuse me for that...wow I keep reading what you wrote Mike and it just incites me to see such degradation of our rights. It incites me because it just keeps getting more and more frequent and nobody says ( or can say) anything about it. We all just blindly fall off the cliff and in no time at all we'll be just another European country with a lousy economy, payin out 75% in taxes so the wonderful government can take care of all our needs. That's what taxes are for right? Nobody needs to get rich...well after a while nobody feels the need to even work, the gov. will take care of all of us. Like that Obama money. Where does Obama get it from? I dunno, it's Obama money.

Here is rainy Washington (the State) it is legal to open carry BUT if someone calls and complains then you might be in for "disturbing the peace" with a firearm and lose all your rights to carry, own, purchase or control any firearm. I carry mine concealed and no one complains.
I have never been able which side of the fence (if either) any politician was on by what they say or how they say it. Not one that I know of has ever come out and said, "I support the individual's right to bear arms". When one does he won't be in office long I suppose.

Exactly! and so it's best to hide your guns and if you're a politician it's best not to give an opinion.

I understand (even if I don't like it) when a politician is noncommittal but it kinda bothers me when the guys who are supposed to enforce the laws won't make it clear what the laws are before hand. I worked in security for a while and I always did my best to make sure folks knew what the rules were before they ran afoul of them. I agree that it is easier to legally conceal a gun than deal with the hoplophobes.
