I had thought that there was another string for this, but I seem to have misplaced it. If this doesn't fit...Please move it.
A simple math question...3 hunters plus 3 flashlights plus 1 knife plus 1 4X4 buck...The winner? The buck. Three hunters went out after dark without any firearms. Not even a handgun. To look for a deer that one of them had shot. When they got to the place the deer wasn't there. Looking around using the flashlights they found the buck standing in the brush with the tag still in his ear. These dummies figured that they could subdue the buck and knife him...Guess what happened??? In my not so humble opinion they should have had at least one firearm with them when they left camp. Especially after dark...Damned stupid of them...By the way...The buck finished with them and walked away...This was found in the February 2006 Outdoor Life...

Bush
Let me get this straight they put a tag on the ear of the deer, then they came back for it and it was on its feet. I guess they should of had a gun of some kind.

Well yes...One had shot it earlier, but did not varify that the deer was dead, aparently. When they came back to get the deer it seems that it was only rendered unconsious.

That's crazy, could you just imagine those guys rolling that deer over and getting ready to slice his belly open to gut it and the deer waking up. That could be bad. Usually the first thing I do is come up behind a deer with my gun toward the base of his scull and neck and make sure he is dead. I had one down that I got to close to too quick and he got me in the leg with his antler, that maid me a little more causcious.

I haven't had that problem as I usually get a good shot in (I'm pretty picky about that or I won't pull the trigger). Even then I aproach the deer from the rear away from the legs and give it a good swift kick in the butt. If it moves I finish it with a revolver shot to the head. At this range a rifle is just too messy...

You may find this surprising, but they don't mind that you are carrying a sidearm as long as it can be seen. Open carry in the country is legal, just not in town. You will scare the locals...Besides if I am going into a bad situation I will carry concealed whether I have a CCW or not...The laws of california are dependent on whether the cop got a piece recently or not as to whether he will invent a reason to cite you...I have had no problems with the game people or the local gastopo when carrying in the wilderness...
Oh By The Way...How are you this fine evening your Highness... |
You guys crack me up ... whether the cop got a piece recently if he will even cite you. Any cop worth a shiite, has any common sense, could care less if someone is carrying open, concealed or at all. I fact, I would rather that more people did. I am not worried about getting ambushed by a legal, generally law abiding citizens that is packing his choice of defense. It's the society sucking dirtbag that wants to kill me because I am the Sheepdog, he is the wolf, and if it weren't for me, he would have his way with the sheep.
