I would support a "Current Legislation" forum section that informs our members of legislation that affects us as hunters, shooters, and gun owners. Even then it should be strictly moderated to be kept on topic and not a forum for those that have the constant urge to bash any particular politician that happened to get elected due to poor thinking on many voters parts. See how easy it is to backslide. We already know that our current President is anti gun and there is no need to rehash that one fact day after day. What would be pertinent is each and every gun, hunting, shooting, range and ammo bill that he introduces or supports be posted for our forum members so that we as a group can start letter writing campaigns to our legislators.

Chris,

A current gun legislation forum is a good idea, although it might be hard to hold it on track. There are those of us who blow off a little political steam by sneeking in a comment every now and then. I've always tried to limit my political comments to one post and refuse to get drawn into an agrument that nobody is going to win.

Cary

Dallan., I agree with most, that the General section is a good spot for Political discussion, debate, and what have you.

I'm still new here and have posted more than my share for what I will call ALERTS.

I am a staunch Conservative, and at the least I want to try to alert folks to what is going on. If I have offended anyone I apologize, but I will not stop. Things in the US are topsy turvy now, and I believe that everyone must know what is going on.

In the General Forum the heading of the post should tell people what the post is about, and they can either read, or not read. You know, if you do not like what on the TV change the station.

But, as things are the way they are now, I believe that we must all be aware and do what we can to support/defend our Rights.

I agree, best also cut out any SHTF, TEOTWAWKI, and similar "Red Dawn - Head for the hills" and "Government/Economical Collapse" type talk. Which seems to get in the way of REAL issues people who share our hobbies face such as anti-gun and anti-hunting legislation going the way side to talk about "what ifs".

Right on Dimitri.

This goes right back to my original post about the SHTF topics.

I moderate on a couple of other firearms sites & TBH dedicated political forums seem to attract a certain type of person who rarely posts elsewhere & appears to have little interest in the REAL reason for the site's existence.

I voted no.

Just a suggestion, but possibly a RTKBA Second Amendment only forum would fill the bill and still limit political discussions to those that are related to the subject that has brought us all together, namely our love of hunting and guns.

I think "Haven't a clue" is a better title... Very Happy

That sounds like a pretty good suggestion

Bushmaster
I voted "I don't care", but I voted that way because I am willing to go along with what the majority of members want. Not because I don't care. Nor did I vote for any Democrat, including the messiah Obama. It's just that since I am new I don't think that what I think should carry as much weight as the those who have been posting for years.

Since I joined I have written probably more than my share of political related postings, and am feeling somewhat paranoid that folks are tired of listening, as English Mike had to say
Quote::

Further, in other postings both English Mile and Vince have told us what they have lost, and what the anti-gun/hunter lobbyists have accomplished in their respective countries.

In my defense I have posted several other questions about reloading and hunting, and this was and is my primary reason for joining.

Ultimately, I think anyone who is a hunter or shooter of any kind needs to be aware of what is going on, if they really love the sport they will be interested and do all they can to help protect these rights. But, I sense that some folks here don't share my passion for protecting those rights.

As some said if they know what the forum is about they can avoid it. Confused

I wholeheartedly agree with ElyBoy, and Dimitri, that we don't need a politician bashing forum, a SHTF, or HTTH's. But, honestly believe that if we stick our collective heads in the sand, and do not do our part to protect these rights little by little they will erode away. Big Blue's idea is good with me too.

This is one great site, and even though I don't know any of you personally, I find that everyday I look forward to reading what you have to say on all topics.

Anyway, since I do respect y'all I am willing to go with whatever Dallan decides. With the exception of booting my butt out. Very Happy

You are a fine person Lester.

I just want you to be happier. Very Happy Very Happy

Yes, the "other side" is in control, but I believe that they are good Americans, and they think what they are doing is right for America.
I may disagree, but I respect their opinions and the Citizens of this Country who voted them in.

This can be a good thing as long as we only use it to express our opinions and not to read people off. This may well keep it out of the rest of the forums so those who don't like it can stay away. There are opinions out there that I strongly disagree with but I will fight like a mad man to make sure they can be stated.
