I have bin thinking about getting one. It would be used mostly for archery but it would be nice to be able to range 400 - 600 yds or so. What do you guys use or recommend. Thanks Guys.
Joe

I own a Nikon but have "played" with Leupolds and others. I like my Nikon for simplicity but the Leupold RXIII my buddy has is pretty nice. Lots of bells and whistles. I see most today have the Ballistic compensation for angle. I'm guessing but that might be important to Archery when your way up in a tree stand and a longer shot is required. I had bought one a few years ago since I shot muzzleloader for twenty years and then moved to Idaho and started rifle hunting. Never had to know beyond 125yds how far something was,. Very Happy
With my limited exposer - If I was in the market again, Leupold is where I would start.

The Bushnell's seem to be a little more in my price range then some of the other brands.

I use Bushnell.

Good enough to use to compensate my banana trajectory guns.

I had a Bushnell, but like my Nikkon much better!!! Some have way too many bells and whistles for me, but to each his own.

I just bought the luepold RXII. I have not used it except to play around, but it seems to work just fine. It has features to use for guns or archery. The tru ballistic range is a sweet feature, no more guessing on hold over.

Used a Bushnell yardage Pro 450 for a while, it gave a good quick reading out to 200 metres.I now use a Leupold RXIV and it gives a good quick reading out to 400 metres, goes way further than that but you have to hold them very steady to get a reliable reading.

Leica LRF 1200. Have ranged large objects past 1000 yds. Mine is the first Leica 1200 model. Only does one thing, tells you the range to the object.

Joe,
I looked at a group of RFs and settled on the Nikon 800. It has a rain feature that keeps the reading true in fog or rain and it has an exclusion feature for brush. You can exclude anything within 150 yards. It has an 8x viewing lens. I have had mine for over 4 years and use it for all sorts of projects, like fence, dirt road and landscape layout plus hunting. The unit is pretty accurate and has not given me a seconds trouble. I bought it as a refurb from Natchez.

I just used it this weekend to establish my end-post location on a free running fence leg 600 feet long. Very Happy
Best,
Ed

I just got a Bushnell 450 sport Very Happy I traded a hand held GPS unit, I don't really need the GPS for hunting around here but the range finder I can always use. The R-F seems to work great.
