Gidday tikkat3. Didn't think it would take too long to become law mate. Personally I don't have a problem with wearing the orange getup...other than orange just isn't my colour...I look so "ugh" in it.
I never hunt State Forests...only private property, so it isn't an issue with us. There is only ever a maximum of 3 of us and we are usually within 50 or so metres of one another anyway.
Cheers, Vince

We don't do the orange clothing and for the most part we don't wear camo. For safty (For whitetail deer hunting), I don't like to put more than 3 hunters on 1,000 acres of private land. I never allow anything other than stand hunting (no walking or driving around, and no drinking). If I'm in charge of the lease, you do any of those things, your off. No second chances. If you drive or walk all over the lease, you not only make it dangerous on yourself, but you disturb the daily life of the deer and could cause them to migrate to other areas for peace and quiet.

The blaze orange is an OK safety thing, Arizona doesn't require it, but if you really don't want to get shot by other hunters get as far away from the roads as you can. Most hunters I've seen anyway never stray more than a very few miles from a road. Five or more miles away from the roads you'll only meet a couple of hunters and the game will also be more abundant. I have a friend that takes a week off just to pack his camp into a very remote area about 25 miles away from the nearest road. He does get the big ones. I just load my pack for a two day hike. I rarely go even 15 miles from the roads, I see lots of game and very very few hunters. After all it's the other hunters that shoot at you, getting away from most of them means less chance of getting shot. I also believe that the farther away from roads you go the less chance you'll run across a hunter that doesn't take the time to IDENTIFY their target before shooting. I don't want to track a wounded animal, I want a one shot kill, preferably a drop in their tracks kind of thing. Figuring the drop, a steady rest, and a clear mostly broadside shot into the lungs and heart.
Only thing, pack about three times as much water as you think you'll need. A couple of times I've run across other people, they were not hunting but they were in desperate need of water.
