Am wondering if anyone knows where Leupold scopes are being manufactured currently. The last few I bought do not say made in the USA anywhere on the scope or packaging. A friend told me they are being made in China. Anyone know for sure?

Golden Rings are still made in the US

Green Ring products are imported.

There's an open letter somewhere on Leupold's website stating this.

Methinks the "made in China" rumour is very convenient for their rivals.......

There have been knock offs for a long time meant to be used on airsoft guns.

I don't like to think they are made in China, however in this day and age if they are in fact made in the USA why don't they advertise the fact? My older Leupolds say made in USA on them as well as the packaging. I am aware of the counterfeits made in China, I am just a little suspicious that maybe the real ones are also. I was doing a search on the net and came across someone saying that Dick's sporting goods listed the country of manufacture on Leupold scopes as China. Then some people replied that it was just the Rifleman series. I just can't figure out if they are in fact made in USA why aren't they advertising the fact anymore?

I wouldn't put an once of belief in ANYTHING that came from Dick's Sporting Goods, especially if it had to do with guns and/or ammo and/or anything to do with hunting and/or shooting.

The only reason Dick's even has one gun in their store is 'cause they call themselves a "sporting goods" store, if not for that, they would concentrate on selling overpriced footwear and "super-duper" undergarments that make high school athletes perform beyond their abilities.

Two months ago I was at the Beaverton, OR Leupold factory. It is my understanding that Leupold scopes are US made at that facility. They were certainly busy on the production line. Some of the other optics, such as spotting scopes, binoculars, etc, are out sourced.

With the acquisition of Redfield from Meade Optics, it remains to be seen how they position that product or from where it will be manufactured.
