Do You Carry a Handgun when hunting with a Rifle?

Thank you all for your input. While a larger gun would be nice I am not using the handgun as the primary hunt weapon. I am using it as a backup just in case. I feel safer using the handgun to end the suffering of a wounded animal at close range than using a 30.06 rifle. I also agree this regulation is over kill. while this power is needed for larger animals it is high for the smaller ones.

I was having troble finding factory loads that meet this requirement and thought I would seek out advice from other sources.

The CDOW regs do not seperate hunting as a primary or backup I just wanted to be on the safe side.
