Well I went and did it. I called Handloader to see what 300 Weathrby Magnums he had in stock, then I paid him a visit. I walked out with a new Weatherby Vangaurd in that caliber. It's taken me two years to do it but I had to after being scammed out of $19,000 on a remodeling project that never got off the ground. I had to do something to cheer me up. The crooks are going to get away with it. And I'm not the only one this happened to, but, only my new Vanguard is going to make me happy.
What did I learn? Never give a contractor money up front, even when they check out, cause like this one, they file for bankruptcy and that's that. This ain't over yet, but, I haven't got a chance on recovering a penny. So, I'll set up a target in the desert and make like it's the bad guy.
Keep it coming...

Hey ya Georgie Boy. Damn sorry to hear about you being taken for a ride by a shyster......damn unlucky.
Congrats on the Vanguard mate. I have one in .243 and it is magnificent. It ain't the top of the line, but it shoots beyond my capabilities so I figure that I am ahead. I look forward to hearing of you exploits with your new "companion". Either that or I start singing again!
Cheers, Vince

George. Get busy with that new rifle...Vince's singing brings up the old saying "Keep your day job". Only problem is he hasn't got a day job either.
So unless you want your ears assulted. Let's hear about the range results on that new rifle. HURRY!!!

Well, George, you had a smile on your face when you left the store! Now, bring some targets by when you get a chance.
If you are going to Ben Avery some weekday morning, let me know. I often get out on Wednesday/Thursday mornings to excercise the barrels and I normally have a chrongraph set up.

George,
You're going to love your new Vanguard. I have one in 300 Win Mag that is really nice. It shoots factory stuff pretty good, too. I have the dies and stuff for it, but I've been too busy working on my other calibers to spend much time with it. The action on the Vanguard is really smooooooth. All in all not a bad gun for the money. Congrat's on your new "addition to the family". Tough luck about the scam artists. If they go through bankruptcy, will you get anything at all out of the settlement? I tough lesson that others would be wise to heed.
Blaine

Blaine, I'm going thru the process now to see what can be recovered. Learned today the Arizona Registrar of Contractors will help & they have a fund they get from contractors to settle situations like mine. Been talking to lawyers also, things are looking up. Time will tell.
As for the Vangaurd, I invested more money in it. Ammo, bipod, scope, sling, dies, primers, powder, etc. Haven't found time to fire it yet, but, did bore sight it. Feels good, looks good.
Handloader, I'll try to get to the range on this upcoming Wednesday. Mornings are good. Want to reload some first. Will probably do that this weekend.
Bushmaster, let the man sing!
Keep it coming...

I hope you are able to get your money back george. Good luck.
By the way, have fun with the new gun.

George,
Some people have no ethics , their day will come though . Hope you get some of the cash back through the contractors group.
Any new firearm purchase is just the coolest time eh? I too like the Vanguards, I got one in a "Red Mist" late last year in .223. Great value.
Have fun.
Steve

I took my new Vanguard to the desert for some preliminary work. Fired some 165 grain factory ammo and some handloaded 165 grain Hornady GR SSTs. I made no adjustments to my scope, only did a bore sight the other day. My target was a dark spot on the groud 250 paces off. All shots were on target. Now I'm ready for some MOA adjustments at the range.
Keep it coming...
