Went fishing yesterday, I have a underwater action camera, its actually not a gopro, but a clone of them... everything is identical but the clone has more features and is about 1/4 the price. (No-one knows what a SJCam is so I just call it a gopro as everyone knows what those are)
Anywho, got 3 hours of some amazing footage, its crazy to see how the fish react. There were some spectacular shots like this one:

Those are actually Kokanee Salmon that our F&G planted in a few lakes, they now natively spawn up rivers in the fall. Kokanee are a freshwater variant of Sockeye salmon that live their whole lives in fresh water... taste exactly the same as Sockeye, just fantastic on the grill.

That was great. So how many did you get, and did the camera change how you were fishing?

That's pretty neat Dallan! I've got the cheapest GoPro but have barely used it. Wonder what would happen if I mounted it on the bottom of a kayak...

Interesting, it seem that your bait only interest those that are directly behind it.
May be its time to throw a few more lines.

We fished 5 lines, that one was the deepest. All poles had action... lots of action. Normally the kokanee are scattered more, it was amazing to see such a large school. Great day to be out fishing and away from work.

based on the video, I think you should have caught more fish.

That was a pretty cool idea! It's nice to see how they react to different baits. Interesting they're going the same direction as you.

couldnt get it to play/load properly...school holidays here and computers all on go slow. got images ok just took ages to move any.
neat photos all the same.
when we fish the canals here we are using a black magic hook that is approx 3/4" across the gap...they fit neatly inside a cocktail shrimp tail..(you know the ones that are smothered in thousand island dressing that you just cant get enough of??)
we drift these down on very loose line as the salmon dont "bite" as such more a suck in...the bait needs to get well inside mouth of fish wont get hooked.

Got contacted by a local news station guy who puts on a weekly outdoors show... he saw my fish footage and wants to showcase it in a upcoming episode! He wants more of the footage, pictures of how I made the camera mount etc etc. Pretty cool, hes going to give full credit to me / HuntingNut.com for it when it airs... so hey, bonus!
I already dug through the footage (3.5 hours) and deleted all the junk clips, I'll take a second pass through tonight and get him the best clips and from that he can use whatever he wants.
kindof cool!

They make a beer called Kokanee. From Wikipedia
Kokanee is a word from the Okanagan language referring to land-locked lake populations of Sockeye salmon
Perhaps you should do a commercial with the beer in the water being chased by the fish. LOL
