Yep, Hodgdon change the interface to their load data and fewer loads show up than before. Elvis, you may have to buy you one of their hardback manuals.

My Lee book, which is several years old also doesn't have a 170 load but has one for 180 with H4831. H4831SC is AR2213SC. ADI also has no 170 load but one for 180. Using the 180 load information you can work up a safe load for the 170 grain bullet.
If you can find anyone with an older Speer manual you should find data for their 170. I am a member at loaddata and found one load there but it was pretty hot. It was from handloaders magazine and used the Speer RN bullet which has apparently long been discontinued.

Elvis,
It surprised me to hear they listed a 15" barrel. I just checked and I see load data for a 160g and a 180g. And the barrel length I see is 24".
Maybe they list weird data for those of you in the Southern Hemisphere? You know, because your standing upside down on the bottom half of the world. Maybe they feed you upside down data to compensate...

The references I found were to Speer manuals #8 & #9.

170 grain bullet for the .270? Never heard of such a thing. I have a manual from 1982. No listing for a 170 gr. I do have a listing for 170 grain for .30-30 only. There are listings for 168 grain, but not for the .270.
I would like to ask you to mike the bullet to insure you have a bullet of .277" in diameter

so yours were olderderderder
and I have to agree with Bushy to be careful. When you want 170 grs, you better take something in 7 mm or in .308, but don't put these bullets in a .270 Win...

This classic manual lists the following bullets for the .270: 100 gr., 130 gr., 150 gr., and 170 gr. The loads for the 170 gr. bullets and 4831 powder are as follows:
Starting Load 52 grs. Muzzle Vel. 2,646 200 Yd. Vel. 2,098
Mid Load 54 grs. Muzzle Vel. 2,719 200 Yd. Vel. 2,156
Max. Load 56 grs. Muzzle vel. 2,803 200 Yd. Vel. 2,222
Hope this helps. All the best...
Gil

If you split the difference between the 160 and 180 grain loads I posted it would look like 52g of H4831 would be a reasonable max charge.
56g Looks wee bit warm to me...

I would ask that when we are discussing 4831 that we specify which one. Hogdon H4831 or IMR 4831. They are NOT the same powder....
