Our hunting draws are taking place and years back some smart person figured out they charge the credit cards days before the notifications are done.
This morning I checked the balance and noticed a $413 charge from the Utah DWR. That is precisely the amount of the moose tag I applied for and the same amount as my wifes Mt Goat tag she applied for.
I figure I'm still 10 years out from drawing, but she was sitting at +95% chance to draw so my bet is on that. They drastically cut Mt Goat tags this year, so I wasn't sure if she'd pull a tag or not. We'll get the final confirmation via email in a few days.
Should be fun to help her tag one of those things, they are very beautiful critters and as much as my pocket book would HATE it, they look amazing when done in a full mount. My brother is a fantastic award winning taxidermist so maybe I can cut a deal.

Dallan, you are a lucky man! I missed the draw for elk again this year and my hunting buddy is off his lease so I'm looking for a place to hunt.

Done deal. Wife drew Rocky Mountain Goat, hunt is in Sept. She didnt draw a general deer tag but is thrilled to get her goat tag. I drew smokepole deer and my boy drew a Rifle deer tag. As a youth, that means my boy gets to hunt all 3 seasons (archery, muzzleloader and rifle).

BUGGER...I suppose he was obliged to recover the animal, not that it would be any good for the pot...as Gelan said, well tenderised |
Actually that particular goat got mounted and was on display at a big hunting expo recently. Guess up close it wasn't as bad as it looked from a distance. I wouldn't have expected that from the footage.

Good luck with your hunts mate...your young fella is gonna have a big year this year, and you get to share it with him. |
Yep! Going to be fun. Took him out shooting targets a couple weeks ago, he was ringing gongs from 100 to 200 yards every shot. We'll have to do a bit more practicing with the smokepole as well (he is pretty sure of himself after last years first deer hehe).
We put in for Wyoming pronghorn tags, find out those results in a few weeks.

Talked to the guides, we are going to hunt starting this Sunday morning (one of them is out of town until saturday evening). Going to be fun, hopefully the weather cooperates!
Helicopter transplant is going on today / tomorrow close by the area we will be hunting, but not trapping the billies we will be hunting... hopefully they dont get to spooked from it.
