Let's talk about illegal immigration.

Aloy, D, did I hear you right?
As for the scientists, Aloysius is right, if your going to accept the money for doing a job, a job that doing improperly can kill people, well it makes sense to get charged for manslaughter.
He didn't kill anybody The earthquake did.

I guess next we'll be criminalizing weathermen for the effects of tornados?

FN, suppose the police is doing traffic control on a crossing that's garded with red/green lights. I stopped for the red light, but the police orders me to cross. When I cross another car comes right or left from me passing the green light and hits me because the police didn't do the right move to let it stop.
In my opinion the police is responsible for the accident and should be punished. Right or wrong?
That policeman is paid for that job and got more legal powers than the trafficlights or the drivers.
you see my point?
Or when building a house, how many people do you have to pay just to control that all the work is done properly. When at the end the house comes down and kills somebody, is the house to blame? Or the workers? Or everyone who was paid to do the quality control?
Neglect to do your paid job properly is also a crime in my opinion and when this neglect causes the death of someone...

If the weatherman says "There is no possibility of Tornadoes today" and because of that people don't prepare so that they can be safe from the effects of it. Sure why not?

That's like expecting a free handout from the covenment and haveing the conservatives cut you off. We'll sue the conservatives? Or maybe the liberals.
Learn the weather and what will occur during other NATURAL disasters and stop blaming others for your mishaps.

If the government is paying relatively big money to people to predict things such as this and you accept the job, you also accept the responsibilities that come with the job Bushy.
That is like saying "I will be a paid consultant for 1 million dollars a year to make sure Iran won't develop nuclear weapons" and when Iran finally lobs one at Israel I say "It is not my fault".
If your getting paid and you take responsibility of something, you will be rewarded with continued income if you do right, if you do wrong, there are always consequences.

Isn't that sumptun...The GOVERNMENT paying EXPERTS to tell us how to live and when to run and hide. Meanwhile we don't spend the time to educate ourselves on the things that we need to sustain our individual lives. The Government and experts will take care of us. If they don't we'll sue them and or send them to jail.
Hummm...Not a bad idea after all. Think we can sue obami for botchin' America or better yet, send him to jail.

The difference is that there is no way to predict an earthquake. NONE!
Were the smaller quakes associated with the larger one? They can tell that AFTER the fact. One of the scientist made a remark about an answer he gave when asked if the small quakes meant a bigger one was coming..
He said something like: "It is unlikely that a big quake will happen in the near future... but I can't rule it out.
When the experts in Seattle are asked when the "BIG ONE" will hit they usually say -"there is a 10% chance that we will have a quake of magnitude 7 or higher in the next 5 years and a 20% chance in the next 15 years."
OK, I can tell you that we are unlikely to have a big quake in the next 24 hours BUT I also know that it could happen. Here in Walla Walla the quakes seem more spread out and less volatile then on the coast. We still have the potential for 8 on the Richter scale though. I am building my garages to handle an 8 or the odd (very odd here) hurricane or even a 1000 year snow storm. I seem to overengineer a lot - the inspector said that minimum standards are just fine but more is better. My neighbor told me that everyone on the block is going to come to my place when the next storm comes because my garages are the best built buildings around. (I only have the foundations in so far)
But the plans show 2 x 6 construction with tie-down bolts no more than 32" apart and double sills and shear wall nailing pattern (with screws) and lots of glue. They will be a bit "over-built" but I won't have to replace them unless the entire area is leveled.

De Bernardinis outright said there were would be no "big one" coming. While the rest said it was unlikely that one would happen, but that one might eventually happen.
So by claiming there is no real risk, then saying there was no risk period, they claimed something that they shouldn't have said. If the prediction of earthquakes is that bad, they should have known to keep their mouths closed.

Well they certainly know now.
And I dare say no-one else with any sort of expert knowledge will say anything from now on.
Probably should just forward ALL queries about anything requiring an expert answer to the lawyers involved in instigating this farce, they seem to have knowledge of everything...............

According to what I've read these guys said that a big one was improbable but did not rule it out. I still say this is total idiocy on the part of the court.

If someone thinks that humans can take responsibility for mother nature and "acts of God" they have elevated mankind to a stature that is far from reality.
