found it I found it!!!!! new I wasnt loosing my marbles Very Happy (loose everything else but not my marbles)we were talking about this on another thread ages ago....
I googled the above and the ruger forum has a photo of it. I used it as a teenager and it was by far the best ammo I have ever used for goats or possums. If I wasnt so backward I could post a picture but short of taking a photo and loading it etc Im stumped as to how to do it. maybe one of you techno minded chaps could do it??? hint hint like Very Happy

Ok, Elvis, settle down. I'll play the devil's advocate here. Why is this semi-hollow point any better than any of the 5000 other 38gr semi-hollowpoints I have sitting in my garage? Lead is lead isn't it? Or does it do something different below the equator?

Slim, it is an unfortunate fact of life that all .22 rimfire rifles have an appetite that is very precise. You can feed your rifle a diet of different brands of rimfire ammo and find that there will be only one or two that it actually likes and with it will shoot beautiful tight groups.

There used to be an ammo out here (made by Winchester I believe) that was called Rabbit Ammo...my rifle loved it, that and another discontinued ammo, again made by Winchester, called Bushman...but unfortunately neither are any longer available. I now used Winchester PowerPoint ammo and that shoots the tightest groups followed by Remington Sub Sonic ammo.

Vince, I concur with your assessment of "feeding" the rifle. I thought the benefit was in terminal performance.

That is if terminal performance is group size.

When I looked at the pictures on the ruger website, one pic showing the cases were stamped "W" so I assume Winchester made them.

Slim you are right about "terminal performance" mate...and Tiks, "group size" isn't the terminal performance I chase...but the difference between a 2" and a 4" group at 50m - 75m can mean a miss on a head shot with a bunny mate.

I figure the tighter the group (within reason), the better, because then I have confidence in my rifle/ammo combination and the only nut I have to worry about being loose is "The Nut behind the butt" mate. So long as I do my bit I know the rifle will deliver the goods.

I have been using subsonic for ages and poked some supersonic through the pea shooter the other day.. got quite a suprise at how flat it shot the subsonics have a very curved path past 40yrds and with a little wind.. forget it. Now my memory has been refreshed I will use it more often if any range is involved.
