Here's some photos of the used Marlin 444P I recently bought along with a 3.5" Ruger Vaquero in .44 Spec.

Great buying, but I'm biased
I have the same rifle,
It is one of the most accurate I own
It will hit the dot you aim at at 100 metres, consistently
Have had a few laugh and say 'you missed', when it has centred the dot
It knocks things down to and thats a good thing to see

Birdseye maple grips by www.privatescustomgrip...index.html. He does a great job on fit and finish at a very reasonable price. I always drooled over the grips being made by Cary of www.clccustomgrips.com/ , but his prices are a lot higher. Here's a couple photos of my S.S. Blackhawk FT in .44 Spec. It's wearing crotch walnut grips from Privates Custom Grips.

That brings the total up to two rifles we have that are the same. I also have a Tikka T3.
I've tried a few loads in the 444P using 270gr. Speer bullets and 265gr. Hornady. They will both work great for deer with 2" groups at 100 yards, but not the accuracy you're seeing. I've used H322, RL-7 and IMR3031. I have a few 330gr. Beartooth cast bullet loads waiting to try on my next trip to the range.

I had the 444 to the range yesterday with a mixed bag of reloads to try. There were a few surprises. I had expected the rifle to like the same powders that I use in my 45/70, RL-7, IMR3031, H322, but everything I read about the 444 said to try H4198. Well I loaded up several to try and was amazed that the best 3 shot group I got was not with any of those powders, but with H4895? It gave me a 3/4" 3 shot ragged cloverleaf at 50 yards, the best of the lot. I was loading 265gr Horn. and 270gr. Speer bullets. Given that the gun is wearing a 4X scope, I don't know that I'm capable of having done better than 3/4" groups. Anyway it's more than accurate enough for hunting so I'll load some more just to make sure it's not a fluke and set the scope for that load. The 265gr. bullets at 2000FPS should make it a good deer gun for the brush.

265grn bullet at 2000fps should make a great deer load ....end of story. thats a big hunk of lead packing a fair wallop it might not be the load for long range but really how many deer do we shoot over 200yrds anyway??? I know I dont even bother to try, there is just too many things to go wrong, and as my last deer prooved that 200 yrds can take a very very long time to cover.
are those hornadys the flexy tips??

Nope they're 44 Cal .430 265gr InterLockĀ® FP. Funny, but they did away with the second cannelure towards the base. I haven't heard of anyone getting great accuracy with the flex tips.

the flexy tips I brought for a mate to try out in his .44 magnum are probly still waiting to be reloaded!!!!
the 2 cannelures are for .444 or .44magnum I am led to believe. maybe they decided nobody was going to load that heavy a load in the smaller case so the back groove wasnt needed?

I have some 300grn Sierras that have no front cannelure. Didn't look until I had them home and opened.
My loads for 300grn Hornady XTP (41g 2207 [H4198] Max listed as 42.5g)
240 Win HP (48.5g 2207, Max listed at 49.2)
Your H4895 (2206H) has the lowest pressures but I have never had any to try. Varget also has low pressure for the heavier pills
