There is a club here that shoots custom muzzle loaders that they called "Chunk guns". Purely a bench rifle weighing MANY pounds. Large diameter barrels and stocks that looked like they were made of 4x4s. Looked like it could be fun!

YEAP!!! CHUNK GUNS! One because they are basically a Chunk of wood with a barrel and lock mechanics. Shooting USA did a story on Sgt. York and went to his place the state gave him after he returned home from WW1. His two grandsons who remember him vividly were shooting a in Chunk gun competition at the park there.
The would put a target where they "thought" the bullet would hit next.
and whoever came closest would win the round. And the bores were as I recall Smooth which is why they did a W.A.G. Wild A** Guess. HAHA.
Sometime Omni-you and me are going to have to meet up at a Des Moines gun show and talk a bit. I believe there is one coming up here shortly even.
