"The FBI says that since November more than seven million people applied for criminal background checks in order to buy weapons ..."
"A year ago, the Guns and Ammo Warehouse was selling, each month for $1,000 each, about 10 of their AR-15s, a semi-automatic civilian version of the army's M-16 assault rifle. Howley says he can now sell 45 a week, when he has them."

Did you notice that Obama has gone against almost all of his campaign promises [ like the recent troop surge , his numerous bailouts which are helping the rich].... By the way Vince why is it that an Australian always make the most posts on American politics ?

I have friends and contacts all over the place mate.
If something that I think will be of value or interest, or just good for a laugh, comes my way, then I share it with all my mates here on The Nut.
But if you want me to stop...say the word...
Having said that...I can see what you guys are having to suffer, and I do feel sorry for you. I think the biggest problem I can see on the horizon for law abiding gun owners is the purge that the Antis, via their "friends" in Govt, will try to level on you guys. I'd hate to see you in the same position as us here in Australia as far as unreasonable and unrealistic firearms laws are concerned.
Cheers, Vince

Vince,
Please do not stop, I do not find anything you have posted to be offensive in any way. So--keep up the good work, you find more than I can, and most times I forward your posts on Americans, and American politics to others in my address book.
Now, a serious question, what do Australian's really think about Obama?

In all honesty mate, I don't think that the average "Joe" is concerned one way or the other.
We hear plenty of things in the News Reports, but none of the "Democrats vs Republican" sort of thing. I think the only thing I have heard mentioned by anyone is the big "Buy Out" of large companies over there. Most that I have heard always seems to be:
"a total waste of money that would have been better spent helping the population as a whole, rather than bail out a few big executive types".
The other thing that does get mentioned is the way the US economy collapsing has caused massive ripples all around the world, resulting in most economies taking a hit. I know that we are hurting and although we are not in as bad a position as the US as far as unemployment etc goes, we are still at the highest level of unemployment for many many years.
One of my daughters is not very happy because they have cut her hours at work. Everybody lost about 21/2 hours per week to save one job.
So there you are mate...I don't think the average aussie cares one way or the other about Obama...at this time. However, some of his decisions have not won him any friends over here.
Cheers, Vince

Nice to see that Australians care about Americans .Just wish your country wasn't pressured towards England's gun laws .After all,I always felt that the only difference between Australia and America was a revolution ...

Thanks Vince,
Please keep us appraised of the situation.
I, and I speak for me and my family, are totally embarrassed by Obama, and are against everything he and his following are for. We are neither Republican, or Democrat, but are Constitutionalists.
There are very few countries that I care about, or I should say that I care about what they think of the USA, what it does and how it might effect other countries. Australia is one of a very few and quickly diminishing countries that I care to listen to.
