It's really disturbing to see what is going on these days. As I've been saying, people who don't study history are doomed to repeat it. Those of us who do study history are worried!

AMEN Bushy. One can never have too much ammunition. Also, some strategically sighted, well camouflaged and equipped hides wouldn't go astray either, with a back up hide and secure passage in and out.

I am not concerned about my own welfare...I made the decision 39 years ago when I joined the Army to put my life on the line for my family and country and that still stands. I am ready and well prepared to walk out the door at 60 minutes notice to defend Australia, or sooner if necessary.

I have to chime in, I've been watching the way these things are being handled and conspiracy theorists seem to sound like they know what they're talking about. As hair-brained as some of it is, I do watch TV and see Obama at the memorial for those slain policemen, lecturing about bigotry and gun control. Every chance he gets he lectures us. The hero of the blacks has done nothing to calm or quench and in turn he ignites the Black Lives Matter movement for more revenge against white cops, more fake stories about innocent blacks being targeted because they're black. The media and the president condemn and accuse at the first knee-jerk of a crime with blacks involved.

The conspiracy theory is that the federal gov. is going to make cops look so bad that the government will step in and we'll have a police state on our hands. It's getting easier to see it that way too.

Al Sharpton is calling the NRA racist when in fact he's the biggest (Obama supported) racist on the planet. "The second amendment is only for white people" and like Obama he does nothing but race-bait and provides no solution.

It's akin to the way our presidential campaigning has been going. Trump wants to build a wall wants to keep Muslims at bay and is called racist by his opponents, by the media, by the president and now by a supreme court justice.

If they hit you really hard, like you've never been hit before, it's because you have hit THEM really hard. You may not have noticed it but the opposition has been hit hard and they're playing dirty now.

It's interesting that you should identify and point this out Suz. I remember seeing a "racist meme" that says, "Racism was almost gone in the US, then Obama came along".

What I can't understand is how and why Sharpton has lasted the way he has and why he has been allowed to flourish with his vile racist diatribe. In fact, I am surprised he hasn't been "removed" from the gene pool. Goodness knows he has given many a good enough reason to "take care of business".

I don't know what the outcome of the presidential election is likely to be...Trump is an unkown factor to me and there are some things he has supposedly said that I don't agree with, but there is a fair bit that I do support. However, one thing I do know is I definitely don't want to see Killary elected. With some luck the email scandal will put paid to her Presidential asspirations (yeah I spelt it that way for a reason). I don not believe for one minute that Bill Clinton didn't "do a deal" with the AG. I have watched two videos where she (the AG) is being questioned by different Senators and she flat refuses to answer questions directly...even after she was castigated by the Chairperson.

All I can say is living at the bottom of the world does have its benefits, I'm not saying we're immune but I am saying its a better life in Godzone (kiwi slang for New Zealand). Im sure Elvis will back me - yea we got racists both ways, we've got issues of wealth and poverty but overall its a great place to live and bring your kids up. The huntings free for the most part and available 352 / 24/ 7, then theres the fishing…..
As for being a cop here - despite what everyone thinks we're as well armed as most American Cops we just don't advertise it, we're lucky because even our bad guys aren't really that bad compared internationally - I don't fear being shot on duty thats for real but last week NZ Police shot 2 people - and on the knowledge I have they were both justified so no back lash.
Kaitangita is a very small village in the south island - Google it and read all about it - theres plenty of small places where one can drop out of society and stay well of the grid if you want.
Trump v Clinton we've got our fair share of Politicians/idiots as well.

Just keeps getting worse. I can't keep up with it. More Police officers killed by a black man in Baton Rouge. Police Chief came out and said this isn't about gun control but what is in a person's heart. He said this just before Obama was to hold a press conference which ended up getting delayed. Speculation is he had to change his speech after the Police Chiefs comment. Otherwise it would have been a repeat of what Obama said at the Dallas Police Officiers' memorial.

It will be interesting to see what happens at the Republican Convention in Cleveland. I was watching Fox News yesterday and they reported that demonstrators are being paid to protest and get a bonus if they can get themselves arrested. Guess this is why Soros gave Black Lives Matter $10M.
